Probably true, but having some percentage of "student-athletes" that are actually just full-time athletes is a drastic departure from the past. And that is only one aspect. The unlimited transfers, NIL mania, pro's returning, & mega conferences has all combined to make it nearly unrecognizable from just 10yrs ago. Not trying to turn this into a doom & gloom thread, but poiting out that having players that aren't college students in college sports kinda defeats the purpose, no?

University of No Classes was a trend setter. Safe to say "College" sports are dead. As for the 2022 guys 5th yr eligibility- what is the outcome? Surely having 1/2 eligible and 1/2 not, based entirely on where they filed suit isn't a tenable result...is it?

2 biggest stories in college football are not about college football. Just when you think Lane Kiffin can't be any bigger of a d-bag, he proves you wrong. Just when you think Michigan can't be anymore weasely and slimy, they find a way to make the B1G do it for them. I guess the Sorsby nonsense over the summer was just the warm-up, CFB has more uneccessary drama than a "Real Housewives" episode.

I don't think it's just Moore. Oregon's scheme is pretty basic. They generally just hand the ball off and let their backs find a seam or throw to the flat/slants and let their players talent take over. It works 90% of the time...until they play teams of equal talent or far superior coaching/preparation (hello IU.) That is why the have to have elite talent to win and why they always come up short in the big game, they are easy to prepare for. Stein at pUKe is gonna find it tougher sledding for his PeeWee league level sophisticated offense, without Oregon's 32 5-Star difference makers. Thoughts?

I think this is inarguable. That FBI investigation proved that every program consistently pulling in 5 stars was cheating. Simple formula, the more high ranked recruits you got= the more your program was cheating. So when NIL arrived Nick Saban immediately retired...because he didn't want to deal with paying players (insert eye-roll emoji here.)

Sat night sat behind home up on the upper deck. Great view of the field: Unfortunately, Holmes sucked in his Cubs debut, and the offense wasn't much better. Lost 6-3. The crowd was pretty close to half Cub fans. They were certainly louder than the home fans. I have some friends & family in KC, so was a great time. The Royals are building a new downtown stadium to replace this one. Supposed to be ready for 2030, I think.

Went to a couple Cubs at Royals games over the weekend. Friday night sat right behind the Cubs dugout (PCA leading off the game): Great seats, but the net made it a litte hard to track the ball sometimes. The Cubs won 6-4, so a great night.

Has anyone else watched Widow's Bay on Apple TV? A co-worker recommended it and just finished watching (10 episodes) and really enjoyed it. It's described as a "comedy-horror" and it is very funny, imo. Main character is Matthew Rhys, who was on that FX show "The Americans" about 10yrs ago.

Except I don't have any authority or control over them. I'm not their boss and not responsible for their job satisfaction. I am an on-looker that wants them to perform for my entertainment. They are professionals now, working on a 1 year contract. Do I care about them as human beings? Eh, I guess, at least I care about them more than I do the employees at my local DMV. But if the team can be improved (more wins) at the cost of one othem personally? I am all for crushing the individuals hopes and dreams and casting them into the gutter like garbage with-out a second thought, for the fleeting intangible benefit it gives me. Is that how DeVries will treat his players? Probably not, but these aren't innocent college kids playing for the glory of old IU. They are mercenaries that will come & go and mostly be forgotten. I hate it, but that is the reality now, in the current system it's transactional. With annual roster churn and players getting paid come much higher expectations and much less fan patience (tolerance, loyalty?) At least in my increasingly cynical opinon.
