  1. To be clear....thrilled with a Big Ten road win. That being said I was a bit more impressed with most of our play vs MSU. Against Maryland the defense stunk, we were not disciplined and had a number of stupid penalties and the OC shriveled up again when calling plays in crunch time. It’s true we lost Penix but MD was without their QB, best RB and best defensive back (ie we did not beat a good team). On a positive note it was great to get a W and we are VERY lucky to be a mediocre program with such a good backup QB. There are not a lot of so-so teams that would have won a road conference game with their back-up QB. Hopefully this win helps give this team (and coordinators) the confidence/swag to be mentally ready to win at Nebraska.
  2. I posted this a few weeks ago. We have a 4-9 record vs the West since that alignment has been in place. 3/4 of those wins were against Purdue, vs the horrible Hazel teams, whom we play every year anyway. The other win was against a winless (in conference games) Illinois team. Ie.....every year we read posts that we should beat 2/3 or 1/3 of the Iowa, Minnesota type teams even through we rarely beat any of those types of teams. In a sign that I have have learned very little over the past decades :) After MSU I think we have a really good shot to beat one or two of those types of teams (this year’s version of Michigan, Northwestern etc) this season. Hope it happens as we need a bowl to help with recruiting mojo. In particular the speed/talent we are getting from Florida is having a positive impact that we need to continue. The previous post........That is true, and I think that we got hosed when they split the league, but the East-West division started in 2014 and we are 4-9 vs the West with 3 of those wins being against Purdue (which has obviously since improved under Brohm) and the other was against an Illinois team that went 0-9. I think we would have more “hope” in the West but so far the results say our record would not have changed to any great degree.
  3. I posted this before. Wilson didn’t exactly beat conference powerhouses, or even above average BT teams, in his tenure. Without Hazel at PU, whom he should send a thank you card, he might not have made it to a bowl. Would be nice if we could beat at least one average team this year. Hope Allen and the staff learned a few things when they crumbled a bit when we had the lead last week. The previous post....... Wilson’s bowl teams both had 6-6 records but he partially lucked out in that Purdue was historically putrid when Hazel coached them. I enjoyed Wilson’s “asterisk wins”, when he stayed close to OSU and Michigan, but he really didn’t beat any good or even average conference teams during his two bowl years as seen below. 6-6.....2-6 in conference (beat Maryland 1-7 in conf and Purdue 1-7) 6-6....4-5 in conference (MSU 1-8, Maryland 3-6, Rutgers 0-9, Purdue 1-8).
  4. Checked out his twitter for the first time. Great to see that his header photo is a picture of him playing DEFENSE.
  5. You are going for your bachelor party? Just checking, hopefully you realize this is an IU, not Louisville, event.
  6. It gets old finding joy in close losses but.... We fell apart at the end of the game. On the other hand, however, five minutes into the game it looked like we might lose 45-3 as we appeared totally overmatched on both sides of the ball. Quite a turnaround for the next three or so quarters. Also, a thumbs up to a couple of true freshman. Mullen on D and Bedford on the OL. Not an easy task for Bedford to get his first start against the MSU D at MSU.
  7. I agree with your sentiments, and am excited about Penix (have to be careful with spellcheck), but in regards to a guy with “it” factor I have three words.... Antwan Randle El. Never got us to a bowl but wanted to give him his props :)
  8. I think it was great. Punch it in and they have a decent shot at a win. You have a chance to beat one of the best teams in the country. GO FOR IT. If I was Clemson with that same decision, however, I would definitely kick the extra point and assume the odds were with me to win in OT. If I was UNC, however, GO FOR IT.
  9. Wow, OSU 38-0 in the first half AT Nebraska. We might have bragging rights by only losing 51-10 :)
  10. The penalties sure did not help but in addition to the penalties I would add the dropped pick six interception in the first half, giving up a quick TD at the end of the first half, the horrid three runs in a row calls in the 4th quarter after we had a ton of success throwing and the deep pass that was a foot too long.
  11. I told my wife. Only a 1-500 chance we will score but at least we have a slight chance because our QB can throw it a mile. Then said, but we will probably hand off or throw a dink pass.
  12. After 100 years or so we are due some good luck. Let’s go!!
  13. We rarely beat good teams. Why do we go into “try not to lose” mode when we have a chance in crunch time?? We have nothing to lose.....try to win the game.
  14. Hope your right. A win would be fantastic. Just curious, what time did you start drinking this morning? Based on your prediction I would guess rather early :)
  15. I agree. There is a 99.9999% chance that Nike was playing the same game so I would assume they would have preferred for these type of activities to stay underground.
  16. I’m also cynical until I see actual, meaningful results/actions. A cloud has also been hanging over AZ and the Ville but their recruiting has suffered so much that AZ has the 6th best 2019 class and the Ville has the 12th ranked class in 2019.
  17. Glad we don’t play Wisky this year......
  18. Do you have the BTN “spillover” channels. One of my BTN channels lists BC-Rutgers on the channel guide but it is actually showing the IU game on that channel.
  19. Man. Zona, UNC, Kanas. The cheaters have really paid a price for their actions....LOL.
  20. We will go through a ton of up and down gyrations all season (we were close, we looked pretty good, too bad so and so is hurt, we are young, one more play, that was a good win, can’t believe we lost to them, etc etc) but at the end of the year it will result in 5-7 yet again.
