Just guessing but maybe they had a change of heart because the check from Kansas bounced.

I was at the game, behind the basket down on the IU bench end. In the first half I literally thought Roberts was going to have an aneurism. He was screaming a LOT. Loved how much he was into it but he did calm down in the second half. On a side note Victor was nearby, although on the sideline rather than behind the bucket (of course). Love the guy but he was on his phone more than a 19 year old sorority girl. I don’t think he saw more than 4 plays (LOL). If I lived in the Midwest I would love to go to more games. The atmosphere was electric. Can’t beat the Hall when the students are in session and we are playing a decent team. -
I just looked and the night before the Pinstripe and the night of the game there are a number of Marriott brand type places, in very good locations, for 240-300. That being said.....hope we get the Music City or Gator. Would be especially great for the 20+ Florida players to get a Florida bowl (Gator).

Who said it was equal? My post did not even compare UM to IU. Can we not say a first year coach is off to a good start?
-
McSwain started 8 of 31 games. And.....in my initial post I did not mention Archie, IU etc but was pointing out that UM is looking good, most people, even knowing who was coming back, picked them 5th or 6th in the BT and that he had lost his three top scorers but had a good core from a winning program. What is disputable about that?
-
No, I’m not comparing them to Teske but don’t pretend you weren’t trying to make Archie’s cupboard look as empty as possible by only mentioning Newkirk and Freddie.
-
LOL. You mention only McSwain and Newkirk, as if he inherited Creans first team, but not Robert Johnson, Hartman, Al, Green, Smith, Morgan or Davis.......Yes, Teske is very good but Howard did lose over 60% of their scoring. It’s waaaaaayyyyy to early for Howard to receive a victory flag but he is off to a good start.
-
I think the coaching change, not knowing how his system would work (I read a lot of comments from their players about learning new terms, more focus on going to the post, faster transition offense, etc.) and also losing their top three (over 60% of points) scorers were the big unknowns that led to the low ratings. That being said, as you mention what was left are some very talented players that have been in a winning culture. They are going to contend for the conference.
-
They could go from unranked to being top 7-10. Hard to believe they were unranked but I guess they were because of new coach, lost top three scorers (although a very nice returning core) and picked to come in 6th or so in the BT. Surprisingly looking as good as any BT team I’ve seen.

He had a list of great offers. We really needed a DL recruit. Great news. -
Yes, and mighty Biola. They play them all twice because they are all in the same conference (Pacific West, D2).

I partially agree and partially disagree. I’ve stated displeasure with the schedule but acknowledge and agree that we still have learned a lot about this team in regards to seemingly much better chemistry on the court, movement is better, we are shooting free throws much better, TJD looks like the real deal, Al continues to improve, Franklin is going to contribute etc., etc. A few things I would put in the “don’t know” or perhaps “aren’t sure”category are: Smith seems improved but how will he do playing the 4 against bigger more athletic competition? Is his improvement the “real deal” or is he going to have games where he is not athletically dominate and drifts? Damezi seems to have improved but will his D hold up against better players? Will he get his low release three off against players that can close more quickly? Hopefully, but I don’t know. I’m 98.9% sure TJD is going to have a great year but don’t know for sure until he matches up against better defenders ( both the players that guard him and their help defense). Is Rob going to contribute to the degree he is capable when fully healthy? Is Hunter going to meaningfully contribute? We’ve learned a lot already but starting Tuesday we are going to learn even more over a 7 game span starting with FSU.
