IUBB vs Northwestern Game Thread: 1/8/20 @7:00 BTN

Seth talking about us turning on the effort. I’m really puzzled why that is a multiple year issue. Expected a “blue collar, tough as nails” style of play but that has not sunk in. Kudos for sitting Green. -

It’s kind of funny hearing Seth give props to just Durham and Smith. -

Yep, and that’s a sad statement that pertains to many, many of our games. -

Back in it. Please win and extend the season for another game. I have faith we can beat the worst team in the Big Ten, at home, missing their PG/best player, led by a 4 year Lacrosse player with their big men in foul trouble. We can do this!!! -

Have you watched the second half of recent games? Never thought I would ever, ever say this but I’d call it a tie between Archie and Crean, after halftime, at best. Seemingly no matter what happens Archie trots out the same 5 guys to start the second half. -

If that’s the case why in the world did Archie let Green stay in, to stuff his stats, when we were down 30 to Maryland. At that point the game was over. Sit him and play walk-ons. Does Archie really have an issue with the upperclassmen? If so, he has an odd/ineffective way of handling it. -
6,375 and I would take the over.
-
Brooks started first half but in the second half did not get in until 11:00 or so to go and then only played 2-3 minutes....and that was it for him in the second half, 2-3 minutes.

As Bilas has repeatedly said, and I agree, UK is completely different with Richards playing and Edwards has “settled” for too many long shots this half.
-
Bozich at “Inside the Hall” also has us 12th. Lots of opportunity to quickly move up in the next 4 games.
-
UK did not start the same 5 starters to begin the second half. I did not know that was allowed.
-
Maryland wins at home Rutgers wins at home Nebraska winning at home. I don’t have any data to support this but it seems like the Big Ten home teams are winning more than ever this year.
-
It’s only the first half but have to give Georgia credit. Playing hard and winning 50/50 balls.

My bad, Bryant and Morgan were indeed sophomores. I agreed it was bad. Just think that 4 NBA players sounded like he had a loaded “Duke type” team but Morgan still wasn’t that great and OG was hurt most of BT. That being said, as I mentioned, it was the final straw for a reason.
-
It was a bad year, it was the final straw, and we should have been in the tourney, but Bryant and Morgan were freshman (Morgan was not remotely close to being a NBA player at that point) and OG was hurt much of the year as he only played in 16 games missing most of the Big Ten season. Not sure who the 4th NBA player is that you reference.

Over/under for the game might be 78.

In general while I wish Crean the best I don’t really care that much, day to day, how he does. That being said, like you, I am looking forward to watching the game tonight as I think it would be great if he won at least two games a year (both games against UK). It will be interesting to see Edwards, Brooks, UK on the road, the environment at Georgia, etc.

William Inge will go with Kalen DeBoer to Fresno State
DChoosier replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I have no idea if Inge is a good coach, if he impacted the players he coached, etc. but DeBoer watched what Inge did on a daily basis and chose to make him his DC. That suggest that either DeBoer is an idiot for making the hire, which I don’t think is the case, or Inge is a good coach. -
He has not limited himself to Indiana. In the last two classes he offered 13 out of state PG/combo guards and landed 0. He tried but went 0-13.
-
I agree. Crean of all people had the same administration, worse facilities, only inherited Kyle Tabor and Brett Finklemeier (think about that) and had us in the sweet 16 in year 4. Raise your hand if you think we are headed towards the sweet 16 next year.

I agree we are not the only team that loses games like this but....... when you hear that the TN coach was 0-10 in games when behind going into the fourth quarter, and that teams (before tonight) this year were 0-471 when behind by 13 with five minutes to go, it does seems that we are cursed with a certain knack for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. That aside, great step to win 8 and play in a Florida bowl.
-
No it wasn’t Went to conservative mode on offense when we could have cut their throat and then let them fly down the field when we went into prevent defense with about 6 minutes to go. Reminiscent of the MSU game. And....we weren’t prepared for the onside kick and made extremely poor use of out timeouts (think we used two tonight to ice our own kicker...lol). They just said that teams that trailed by 13 with 5 minutes to go were 0-471 this year. Now it’s 1-471. Bigger picture we won 8 and played a bowl game in Florida. I would have taken that in a minute when the season started.
