  1. I don’t think Leal will get legit minutes until Woody trusts his defense. In regards to perimeter threats it is great to see Stewart at 10-21 from the three and while X has only shot 6 threes he has hit 3 of them. I think/hope Kopp at 5/16 and Bates at 4/12 will both be 35%+ this year. Interesting that none of the 4 played for us last year. Kudos to Woody for adding some players that will potentially improve one of our greatest weaknesses last year.
  2. That’s also what I am expecting. He is obviously quick and can the court well and he is also doing a better job staying in front of his man on D (will be good to see how well he does that against better players). He will not star in a shooting video but his 3 point shot looks improved and no longer starts at his belt buckle. I hoped the Woody influence would change Robs offensive approach but he still is pounding the ball too much and can’t shoot. Great kid but…..
  3. I agree and also don’t see him as the next Damezi. Just saying I want to see what he does against decent/good teams. Hopefully will be fun to watch.
  4. I’m also excited by many of the skills he has shown but my excitement level has a relatively low ceiling until we see what he can do against Syracuse and Big Ten opponents. This is not a knock on Lander, as all he can do is play when he is put in, but his playing time has almost entirely been against two horrible teams. Maybe I am having flashbacks of all the posters that got excited when Damezi hit a few threes, against a crappy team, but he never could do the same against more athletic/quicker to close out/longer players. I think/hope KL will turn out to be what we all hope but am not for anointing him the starter until we see he can perform against stronger competition. (that being said his speed, vision etc looks like he could be really good/special).
  5. Due to injury Durr played very little prior to the season. He is out of shape. Once he gets back in the groove I think he will give us a decent 7-10 minutes a game and that his size will come into play vs. a few of our Big Ten opponents.
  6. Nice that a lot of guys got playing time again. Most of the guys played hard and the defense seems (hard to be sure vs these teams) to be a lot better Not sure what else we learned as Jackson State is terrible. Looking forward to the @ Cuse game.
  7. Toiletmakers 41 Team that want this season to be mercifully euthanized - 10
  8. I agree they are good and it also makes me sick :) Threats from 3, good inside play, attack the basket, deep, share the ball, played hard, etc. First time I have seen Furst. He is going to be a good one. Back to back days of beating UNC and Nova is impressive. Ugh.
  9. Hope we are competitive enough to go keep our recruits in the fold. Go IU. That’s all I got.
  10. IU - 85 Lafayette Crawfish - 61
  11. I can see Geronimo getting some of these minutes, especially when 2 of X/KL/Rob/Stewart/Scoop are in the game.
  12. I know…I was just joking about our previous ineptitude. Jacked about this season and the future.
  13. I don’t get Bardo’s takes last night. He is generally fairly boring but at least has not previously been anti-IU, respected our tradition/fans and the IU teams he played against “back in the day”. Last night it almost seemed as though a producer called him an IU homer so he went way to the other side of the continuum.
  14. I don’t think he looks stiff and he was a stat stuffer in limited minutes. 8 minutes with 7 points, 5 boards and a steal. Three of his 7 points were from a three pointer with a great stroke and he also had a good 2-pointer going to the rim. Like the offensive versatility. He is long, athletic, seems to have a feel for where to be, plays good defense, is strong enough for the BT, hustles and has a crazy wingspan. He should be at least a 15-20 minute guy and I think he has huge upside.I won’t be surprised to see Geronimo and Bates getting 2 of the 6 most minutes, by mid-season, on the team.
  15. X could handle it but was in foul trouble. I’m not too worried about IU handling pressure teams. Would have been nice if our 2nd half defense matched the intensity of the first half. They also seemed to get most of the second half loose and 50/50 balls. There was a lot to like. Many want to see more KL minutes but my pick is more Geronimo minutes as good things seem to happen when he is in.
  16. Lots of pros and cons tonight but, at year-end if we are a bubble team, this was a W and this program needs to make the tourney this year.
  17. This half we are getting smoked on 50/50 and loose balls. No quit in St John’s.
  18. We didn’t give them room to breathe in the first half. Made every shot uncomfortable. Not so much, so far, this half.
  19. Yep, and they got a three off the rebound.
  20. I love how our fans cheer for defensive effort.
  21. Two coaches, so far, have thought so. That being said….I’m not a “give Lander minutes” guy but I would have played him the last 2 minutes of the half.
