  1. No way he leaves Arizona. Just not going to happen.
  2. I've just never trusted him to get it done. Not thrilled with the Tom Allen hire in FB, and just don't expect the BB hire to be much better... I admit that I have very little concrete to go on, beyond the Allen hire... I'd be quite happy if he proves me wrong, but I just get the feeling that he's totally overwhelmed.
  3. For all of Crean's shortcomings as a coach, I can't see him shaking down local merchants like Alford has… or defending a rapist, like Alford did. IMO, Alford is the perfect fit at Sam Gilbert U, aka UCLA.
  4. Crean will be successful in a scenario like that. Rack up some wins, make the dance every second or third year, bring a little spotlight to the bball program, all without the pressure of being THE guy in THE program. Focus on football will allow his mediocrity to appear to be less mediocre..
  5. IMO, Glass is in over his head and is running scared... analysis paralysis or what ever the vogue term for that is today... he's scared of screwing the pooch... and when (if) that happens, we're all going to be stuck with his coach and he will be looking for work. I could be wrong, but that is totally how I'm reading this situation.
  6. There is no search firm. It's "All Glass, All the Time". That's what he said in the Thursday presser.
  7. Crean RECRUITED Wade. Wade was NOT a resource of Marquette until Crean brought him in. If Marshall hasn't had such a resource, that's on him as a poor recruiter...
  8. Jay Wright is now available for interview... Wisky just knocked Villanova out of the tournament.
  9. Do you understand sarcasm? I don't want Alford. His lack of defense is on par with what we've seen for the past 9 years... try to keep up.
  10. Well, then, lets sign him. We haven't seen enough of that over the past 9 years.
  11. What does that even mean? Who has Marshall recruited that was comparable to Wade? No one? That's on him.
  12. So was Crean.
  13. Does it really matter? Knight threw a chair. Davis went nuts at the refs. It's all unnecessary and unwarranted.
  14. I should have elaborated. Good luck with that. Can't see that happening. And not interested in even discussing it.
  15. Good luck with that. Can't see that happening. And not interested in even discussing it.
  16. He's not stupid. He's trolling for listeners. There's a difference, and DD is a master of that art... though I give little credence to much of what he says, I still listen occasionally.
  17. That all sounds good, but if I were hired as coach, I'd expect full control over who my assistants would be. Any decent coach would do likewise. Hiring a head coach and already having assistants lined up could seriously hinder said head coach's ability to run HIS program HIS way.
  18. Being forced to do something does not preclude one, especially a lawyer, from being able to spin it and sell it as his own idea. For me, the jury is still out. It will be until we have a new coach. That will will be the proof in the pudding.
  19. And Dakich is their poster boy. None of them are good for much... they just love to hear themselves talk.... but it's all just hot air.
  20. Lots of things bother me about Alford. His record at Iowa is one … and related to that are the Pierre Pierce and Luke Recker issues. Clearly the Pierce issue is the larger of the two, and I still have considerable reservations about that one. Similarly, the Recker thing shows a clear lack of judgement on Alford's part, IMO. I don't see him much above Crean in terms of overall coaching success. He's easily as inconsistent as Tommy Boy has been, wasn't it just last year the fan base was after him with torches and pitchforks? No thanks. Let UCLA keep him.
  21. Good to see that Stevie and I are in agreement about the open Indiana job.
  22. Dakich just said that he hoped Tom Crean goes to Illinois...
  23. I am thankful that Tom Crean cleaned up the swamp. Of course he got $3 large to do it x 9 years... but he was willing to come, slip on the rubber gloves and do the job. I am thankful that he ran a clean program, and graduated kids. And except for that stint with Hanner, Davis, etc, he had few off court issues (though the issues were, IMO, serious enough to consider letting him go at that time)... I am thankful for the good years. I am now thankful that he's gone... the inconsistencies were just too great to overlook, long term.
