Interesting,.. where do Alford, Bennett and (for reference sake) Crean stand?

There is more to "affording" a coach that just $$$. Can we afford Alford's questionalble past at Indiana? I vote no. Always and often.

I understand that we don't live in a perfect world and I am not naive enough to think that it doesn't happen ... also, there is a raging debate about whether or not NCAA athletes should be paid... but as of today, it's still against the rules. It may turn out to be a situation like Sampson and the calling/texting thing... but the fact remains that it's against the rules, and as such, doing so gives one coach an unfair advantage over the one who follows the rules. Cheating is cheating. No place for that at Indiana.

I am on record multiple times of being against even talking to Alford. And does the part about paying kids NOT bother you?

It would not change my mood no/opinion of Alford. He could win it all multiple times and I'd still say "no". Re integrity, Alford is lacking it.

Painter does not have all the baggage that Alford will bring. Also, Painter sat under Keady for a number of years and was groomed to be the next PUke coach. Alford has left a trail of bad ju-ju in his wake. Alford has pretty much groomed himself. I'd take Painter in a heartbeat over Alford.

Ads good as Wilkes could be, it's not a deal I would make. Ever. Alford will be THAT much of a bust/liability.
