  1. You really can't do that... a lot was said just in the way they talked... Dakich gets old real fast, and Crean makes me crazy with the way he says things... but with that said, it was a really good conversation... not sure I'd call it an interview. And not to derail this thread, Dakich did say something that made me go "hmmm"... he said that he wanted to tell Archie that when you are the coach at Indiana, that it never ends well. It ended well for himself because he got out of coaching... but he went back as far as Lou Watson and said that it didn't end well for any of the coaches ... not Watson, not Oliver, not Knight, not Davis, not Sampson and now, not Crean. None of the Indiana coaches ever "ride off into the sunset", as it were...
  2. The SlimeCats and their fans are not capable of being classy. Never were.. never will be... attacking the ref's business via fake reviews is pretty much how they roll...
  3. How much of the "first ever" with the IU head coach is on them and how much was on FCTC? I've heard many reports that Crean didn't like doing the local interviews... and avoided them whenever possible... the old "lead a horse to water" adage comes to mind here...
  4. The BTN is airing the press conference, starting at 2:50pm EST... I'm sure there will be other coverage, as well... but set your DVRs or plan to tune in.
  5. Agree 100%. Look at some of RMK's recruits … the pot smoking incident at the Great Alaska Shootout, Sherron Wilkerson and no doubt many more. It happens, and it comes down to how the coach deals with it. It's not like he's had the litany of issues like, say, Sampson or Crean had.
  6. You left out the classic "3>2".
  7. I wasn't trying to be a dbag … my point is that it doesn't matter, at least to me. Alford is NOT here and everyone saved face. It truly is a non-issue to me who rejected whom. It's like when two teenagers break up. Each tell their friends that they dumped the other. All that matters is that they are not together any more. Same here.
  8. AKA the universal adjective.
  9. Mellow Yellow dude.
  10. It works very well with Tapatalk, too
  11. Tapatalk is working, but not the website/browser.
  12. What is the NCAA rule on coaching changes as it relates to players and recruits? Apparently recruits can ask for a release from their NLI... does that make them eligible to play immediately at a new school? What about players already on the team/enrolled in school? If they transfer, they have to sit out a year (except for grad transfers)... even with a coaching change?
  13. Sean just can't do it in the dance. Hope Lil Bro fares better.
  14. Freddie lied to us... what about the "Indiana ties"? Where's the "home run"? If this is "swinging for he fences", I'm out. Giving Archie a chance to save Glass' job... but wow... my mind is blown.
  15. It's been an emotional roller coaster ride for the past 3-4 months... stepping away for a while...carry on.
  16. Looks a LOT like Jeremiah April, Tijan Jobe and Guy Marc Michel
  17. Frankly, that's not an overwhelming difference... But if Archie can teach IU basketball players to set a screen, block out on the boards, run an inbounds play without turning the ball over, play something other than 'matador defense' and cut turnovers, I'll be willing to give him a chance...
  18. It truly looks like IU wanted Alford, and when he said no (last night), Glass picked Archie. I don't think that was really what happened, but it's going to be the perception. Looks VERY weak to me.
  19. Well, why not Archie? We just fired Jughead.
  20. Some said that about Sampson. Some said that about Crean. And here we are again.
  21. Better does not necessarily equate to 'home run hire'.
  22. One could argue that Indiana is no longe a power. Not that we haven't been, or won't be again. But with Crean, we were pretty insignificant, nationally. We need a coach that totally restore IU basketball to its rightful place among the blue blood elite programs.
  23. The problem with the NCAA tournament is that you have the best 68 teams in the nation playing 67 games... and EVERYONE goes home a loser except one team. If you're going to base your decision for a new coach on one game, the odds are incredibly high that that game will be their final loss. In that case, you have to judge the team/coach/performance on who they played, how they played and what their overall standing was going into the game/tournament. Any other evaluation will, by definition and design, be suspect.
  24. Nope. No way. Never.
