He’ll really be pissed if his billionaire buddies start writing those checks for Coach Cig instead… Coach Cig is closer to a national title in year 1 with limited NIL than Woodson is in year 4 with endless NIL.. They’ll start realizing who the better investment is very soon.

Coach Cig is big man on campus now. Woodson can’t be happy about that.. But when one guy prioritizes winning and the other prioritizes wine and cigars, that’s what happens.

Football recruiting is weird.

Relative/friend is more likely to me. You don’t defend someone so fervently if you have no connection to them. Especially someone as mediocre as Mike Woodson.

It’s really not that deep lol. I don’t like Mike Woodson, his teams aren’t very good, and his style of basketball is ugly to watch. More often than not, not watching is a more enjoyable experience.

He’s talking about me. He seems incapable of understanding that sometimes losing in the short term is better for the program. You don’t have to look any further than IU football to see how true that is. Losing our last three games last year by a combined 10 points last year was the best thing that could’ve happened to IU football. No way Allen gets fired if he wins them to make a bowl, and no way Allen is sitting at 10-0 right now as the IU head coach. Idgaf if some Mike Woodson disciple on a message board thinks that means I’m “not a fan”.

If Woodson wants to fire every person who questions every moronic decision he makes then that’s fine. If he wants to surround himself with yes men as he has, that’s his decision to make. Hopefully he will not be making those decisions as coach of the IU basketball team for much longer.

Why would Woodson think moving their lockers would have any impact on that? The locker room isn’t that big, so it’s not like moving their lockers would prevent them from hanging out with each other. Just seems like yet another example of Woodson throwing his ego around and wanting everyone to know he’s the boss.

The team won’t be this bad all season obviously, but it demonstrates why bringing Woodson back was such a dumb mistake. You can buy the best ingredients in the world and it won’t matter if your chef is a dud.

If Woodson was a likable, hardworking, successful coach, this would be a total nothing burger. He’s none of the 3, and that’s why there’s an 11 page discussion about firing a young staffer. Firing Howard encapsulates everything wrong with the Woodson administration.

Woodson gets a massive pass from a contingent of the fan base because he’s a former player. If he was just judged on his tenure as head coach, it would be virtually unanimous that he needs to go. He deserves zero benefit of the doubt at this point. He’s a petty egomaniac who gets rid of anyone who doesn’t devote 100% loyalty to him.

Targeting continues to be the worst rule in college football.

Maybe it’s copium, but the more I think about it, the more I think he’ll stay. This season shows that the sky is the limit at IU. I truly don’t think there’s anything a school like Florida can give him that IU can’t, other than the brand. And I don’t mean to dismiss the appeal of that, but it has drawbacks too. Florida expects to compete for SEC championships and will fire you if you don’t. Put together a 10 year run at IU and he’ll get a statue and probably the stadium named after him. We have a gigantic basketball fanbase that would love to throw its support behind a football program too. We just haven’t historically had a reason to.

At least they talk to recruits. Woodson can’t even be bothered to do that.

Hopefully the “negotiations” consist of Scott telling Cignetti to name his salary and list all the other things he wants and then Cignetti putting the list together.

If two players’ lockers need to be separated for team chemistry issues then that’s one thing, but it sounds like this was Woodson just wanting to flex his control. Mediocre Mike could not be more different from Cool, Calm, and Collected Cignetti. Cignetti doesn’t have time for petty drama. He’s too locked in. Woodson could learn a thing or two from our premiere program’s coach. His recruiting is going to tank even harder now that he canned one of his hardest working staff members.
