Tennessee really making a compelling argument to upend the playoff format to let in even worse SEC teams. I think the 12 team playoff is great. They just need to get rid of the auto byes for the top four conference champions. No reason for Boise State and ASU to get byes.

Meh, who cares. Sure, we didn’t play well. But outside of the 98 yard run, our defense made Notre Dame earn everything. Our offense couldn’t do anything, but it’s not like they were scoring touchdowns left and right. Regardless, I mean Alabama scored 3 points and gain 234 yards against a crappy Oklahoma team a month ago and the SEC stans are acting like it’s some big injustice that they were left out of the playoff. We have a similar game for the first 55 minutes against Notre Dame and they’re acting like it’s the end of the year. If Tennessee keeps getting throttled like they have been so far will any of the SEC folks keep the same energy they’ve had about IU? Of course not. I just don’t care what any of them have to say. They’re dishonest hacks.

They’re petulant children who are throwing tantrums because their baby Alabama didn’t get into the playoff. Blowouts are absolutely nothing new in the playoffs. But because we aren’t a football brand, our ”blowout” is a referendum on our worthiness

They act like blowouts never happened in the 4 team playoff. In 2022, TCU lost by 58 points. In 2021, both semifinal games were decided by 21+ points. In 2020, ND lost by 17 and Clemson lost by 21. In 2019, Oklahoma lost by 35. Basically every year at least one game is a blowout. We didn’t play well at all, but it’s nowhere close to the worst we’ve seen.

I’m sure we’ll see plenty of takes this afternoon about SMU from the SEC crowd. They’re undefeated in hypothetical matchups. But screw em. You go to a 12 team playoff to have these teams make it that wouldn’t make a 4 team playoff. Their pro-Bama arguments would have a lot more merit if we didn’t watch Alabama get boat raced by a trash Oklahoma team less than a month ago.

Last year I wanted the team to tank so that we’d fire Mike Woodson. This year I just want the season over with so that we’re closer to football season. I have no faith in the administration to do the right thing here.

I’m so freaking sick of this joker. We have so many transfers because he refuses to recruit high schoolers to balance out classes, and then he uses the “newness” as an excuse for his team sucking. Dude is such a joke.

IU gave him a million dollar raise after winning one tournament game in two years. We really have no reason to believe he’s gone absent missing the tournament again. The expectations are so in the gutter for iubb that “you can’t fire the guy who took you to three tournaments in four years” will be the talking point.

Yeah I’m honestly really hoping he doesn’t get the kind “retirement” angle to his departure. His behavior during his tenure has been anything but graceful, so I’m not looking to see him get a “retirement” cop out. He’ll already be getting a multi-million dollar gift in the way of his buyout.

I don’t think there’s really anything they can do to make it better that they’d actually be willing to do. It feels like the cat’s out of the bag at this point. Honestly with the rapid changes in just the last few years I wouldn’t be surprised if 10-15 years from we look back on this period as the “good ole days.”

I’ve never loved the free transfer rule. Reimplementing the old rule would certainly solve a lot of the madness. It + NIL helps level the playing field for a school like IU, but it’s not good for the game.

It leads to situations like Penn State’s backup quarterback entering the transfer portal while his team is competing for a national championship. It’s not a good model.
