Although games like this are necessary to accomplish the #FireMikeWoodson endgame, watching an IU team get worked like this at home brings no joy. It’s disgraceful.

One of their worst takes (of which there are many) is that the players are feeling so much pressure from the fanbase and are being crushed by it. I’m sorry, but idk many low stress jobs that pay $500k or more. High-level D1 basketball isn’t the place you go if you want a pressure free environment.

That’s the beauty of the cupcake. Schedule a bunch of nobodies and your record still looks pretty good in mid-January. Unfortunately for Woodson, there aren’t anymore Chattanoogas or Winthrops on the schedule to squeak out 9 point wins against.

I don’t disagree, just food for thought. NBA head coach is probably a better lifestyle than college head coach, and he already stepped down from the nba job.

I would almost take Dusty over Brad. Brad hasn’t coached college basketball in 12 years and hasn’t coached at all in four years. Does he really have the fire this job needs?

There’s no point in firing him mid season. The season was a lost cause when they decided to bring him back. There’s no benefit to trying to salvage it now. Just let Woodson end the season with a whimper in a couple months and completely clean house.

Fife has the holy trinity of job qualifications for the iubb head coaching job: (1) losing record as head coach; (2) multiple seasons out of coaching entirely; and (3) IU grad. Have to think he’s near the top of the shortlist.

I legitimately think that Cignetti can win a national championship in football. Maybe that’s stupid of me to think, but he just went 11-2 and made the playoff with loose couch cushion money for NIL. Give him a top payroll and the sky’s the limit. Putting NIL toward our basketball program is a waste of money until proven otherwise. The Simon’s lighting $6 million on fire would’ve been as useful this year as giving it to Mike Woodson.

We should dedicate 100% of NIL toward Coach Cig. We have a really good opportunity to do some major things in the most important/profitable college sport. Now’s the time to cash in and take advantage of that. Give him everything.

Yeah, because covid canceled the NCAA tournament in 2020 when IU was 20-12 and 9-11 in the conference, very comparable to the 20-13, 9-11 IU was in Woodson’s first season before the tournament. Woodson delivers marginally better results with enormous advantages no other IU coach had. Build the statue.

ND should have to play in a conference to make the playoff, and all conferences should have to play 9 conference games.

If high school recruiting wasn’t still important then you wouldn’t see top programs with the top classes. Right now the top 5 classes in 2025 are Duke, Houston, UConn, Arkansas, and Kentucky. The portal is a good way to fill out your team. Using it to build yours each year is a big risk. And it’s not like Woodson has just completely sworn off high schoolers. They offered a lot of kids in the 2025 class. They just didn’t want to play here.

Bruce Pearl turned 57 in March of his third season. Mike Woodson turned 66 in March of his third season. You’re talking about a 9 year difference in age. The conversations about Mike Woodson would be much different if he was 9 years younger right now than he currently is.

And also let us know how many of them were 66 years old.

Year 1 was pretty meh. We finished the regular season 18-12 and 9-11 in the conference, managed to sneak into the tournament after winning a couple of BTT games, before getting curb stomped by Saint Mary’s in the round of 64. Year 2 was better but underwhelming compared to the preseason expectations, and it too ended with a blowout loss early in the tournament. Combine the on-court results with his very prickly personality and lackluster effort on the recruiting trail and it’s crystal clear that this isn’t just about one “true fans” incident.

Nope. Many of us wanted him gone from day 1 because we saw how bad of a hire he was. Nearly four years later and he’s done nothing to show otherwise - both on and off the court.
