Bob Knight’s approach wouldn’t work in 2025. It didn’t really work in the 90s. But my ideal coach would be a lot closer to Bob Knight than he’d be to Mike Woodson.

SDB is “Scott Dolsons Burner,” a very irritating and abrasive pro-Woodson Twitter account. “Doxxed” means to have one’s true identity revealed. Apparently Xavier Johnson was the guy behind the account.

When Rice referred to Woodson as a grandpa it was a sign of how this season would go.

100%. In absolutely no way was hiring a 63 year old semi-retired Mike Woodson in the best interest of the IU basketball program. It was an atrocious decision then and hasn’t gotten any better four years later. I at least thought he’d be motivated to work hard at the job because he was an “IU guy,” but he’s shown he couldn’t care less. I reallyyy hope we only have two more months of this crap.

There’s not much they can do. But they aren’t on staff for their great coaching prowess, which is what you need when your coach is as bad as Mike Woodson. So IU is really just paying them a few hundred thousand each to watch Mike Woodson embarrass himself on game day.

Recruiters who never land any recruits. What a great gig.

He doesn’t love IU. He just love what IU does for him. No one who loves IU would handle their coaching tenure the way he has.

Huge win for the tank. Time to fire up the boos in the Hall and send Mike Woodson packing.

He gets paid millions of dollars to barely work and have his ego stroked every day. Zero chance he voluntarily gives that up.

No but it’s the same administration that hired Woodson, raised his salary $1 million/year, and then brought him back for a fourth season.

I didn’t root for wins in those games for this exact reason, so I’m not really the target demographic for this question. But this is why I hate the “true fans wouldn’t root for losses” take we’ve seen from certain people. A Mike Woodson led basketball team is a miserable experience. We all seem to want him gone after this season. Losing games is the way we get rid of him. It’s as simple as that.

Why would I want B to happen when it decreases the likelihood of A happening? He got a million dollar raise for making the tournament. Two years later he’s going to get fired for making it? The IU administration has given us zero reason to trust it to do the right thing. From hiring Woodson in the first place, giving him a fat raise for making the tournament, and then bringing him back for a fourth season. The administration has made the wrong move every step of the way. Why believe it’ll be any different now? The team needs to bottom out to leave no doubt of a change.

This game sucks. I enjoy a notre dame beat down as much as the next game, but I didn’t want the last CFB game for the next 7 months to be a blowout.

Could just be me, but it hasn’t felt like there’s been much buzz for the championship. I kept forgetting that it was on tonight. It’s been almost two months since the regular season ended, and we’re now deep into the NFL playoffs.

I mean yeah they do it for school, etc., but I can’t remember the last time I sent an email to a friend. I don’t think I even know some of their email addresses. In any event, based on what was shared on here, I feel pretty confident that I’ve guessed what happened.

Are college kids even sending emails these days?

I mean, the athletic director wanting to move on but not being able to doesn’t inspire confidence.

No one should be surprised by a fifth Woodson season, imo. This is the same administration that hired him, gave him a million dollar raise, and brought him back for a fourth season. It’s been a while since doing what’s best for IU basketball has been the priority for those running things.

I know villain sounds harsh. But the only Quinn Buckner I know is the guy who forced IU to hire his completely unqualified buddy and then forced IU to retain said unqualified buddy for a fourth season instead of hiring Dusty or Pearl. Mike Woodson is the guy that has halfa**ed his head coaching job for four seasons and intentionally drove a massive wedge in the fanbase because he didn’t meet expectations. They’ve written their stories for the under 50 crowd, and they're not pretty ones.

Not me. His behavior during his coaching tenure far exceeds whatever he did as a player long before I was alive. Same with Buckner. They're villains in my IU fandom story. I have no other memories of them.

Some people make things up because they like attention. Some people pass off other people’s information. Other people actually are connected, but things are fluid and even good information can change. People are free to believe or not believe whoever they want. I know there are some people I believe, some people I don’t believe, and some people I just don’t know enough about to believe/not believe. As long as the season ends with Mike Woodson leaving his job I don’t really care when it happens. Sooner rather than later would be great because we’d know it’s for sure happening, but I’d personally be surprised if it happens before the season’s over. A retirement announcement could happen, but I don’t expect a mid season termination.
