The idea that the athletic director can’t hire or fire the basketball coach has always seemed absurd to me. It’s the perfect cover story for Dolson, though. He hired, raised, and retained arguably the worst coach in the Big 10 but gets to hide behind the “it’s not my decision” excuse. This off-season will be his time to put up or shut up.

Another huge win for the tank. I’m starting to feel good about our chances of moving on.

So, everything but for the most important thing… Hiring a guy with 1 winning season in 6 years as a college head coach would be very on brand for recent IU, though.

How much do the Terps have to win by to rid us of Coach Mike Woodson?

Yeah I was fully on board at the time, but I really don’t think he could’ve done worse than what we’ve gotten the last 8 years from Miller/Woodson.

Sure, but (1) Crean has been here 9 years when we fired him and (2) when we fired him, he had one good year in the past four and had two missed tournaments. He also had ruined many recruiting relationships Given our results since I wonder if firing him was the right move, but his tenure had run its course.

Crazy that UNC’s coach has two sweet 16s in 3 years, a title game appearance, a conference title, and a 71% winning percentage in the ACC and they want him gone. Meanwhile we’re on pins and needles wondering if Mike Woodson will be fired when he hasn’t accomplished a fraction of what Davis has. Just shows the enormous difference between IU and a real basketball school.

Unfortunately no. My first real IUBB memories were from the Sampson era.

Life’s too short to spend it watching awful basketball. I’ve been waiting for the bad times to end for about my whole life.

Rooting for a loss is rooting for the IU basketball program. The IU powers that be have done absolutely nothing to show they’ll make a move if their hand isn’t forced. Wins do nothing at this point but increase the likelihood of a fifth Mike Woodson season.

Exactly why the King cooked up such a weak non conference schedule. The single digit wins against crappy low level programs don’t show up in the win/loss column as anything other than wins. But the trickier can only go so far. Anyone who knows this team knows the record is a sham.

We need all these old timers to go away. Thank you for the contributions in the past, but you’re not helping the program in the present.

He’s spent four seasons making a mockery of the position and all it entails, and he drove an enormous wedge in the fan base because he didn’t like the criticism he received for failing last season. He’s earned those boos.

Either we have an incompetent administration or a completely neutered one. Either way we’re in trouble.

As long as he’s done at the end of the season, I’d rather IU not fire him mid season. He deserves all these boos he has coming his way.

I actually agree with never been got Scott on this. We shouldn’t just take it as a given that Woodson is gone next year. IU cares about optics more than anything else. They will care about the optics of firing an alum who made 3 tournaments in 4 years. It shouldn’t matter. Anyone with a pulse can see the issues over the past four years. But the IU administration will care. That’s why I’m so adamant that it’s vital we miss the tournament this year.

Yeah I don’t particularly care for any of the players on this roster. Maybe my hatred of Woodson has poisoned my feelings toward them, but I’m perfectly fine with an entirely new team next season. Clear house entirely.

Bob Knight’s approach wouldn’t work in 2025. It didn’t really work in the 90s. But my ideal coach would be a lot closer to Bob Knight than he’d be to Mike Woodson.

Gee, I wonder what’s different between the games in November/December and the games in January-March…

SDB is “Scott Dolsons Burner,” a very irritating and abrasive pro-Woodson Twitter account. “Doxxed” means to have one’s true identity revealed. Apparently Xavier Johnson was the guy behind the account.

When Rice referred to Woodson as a grandpa it was a sign of how this season would go.

Imagine having Mike Woodson as your landlord. “I know it’s 10 degrees outside, but it’s not my job to fix your heat.”

100%. In absolutely no way was hiring a 63 year old semi-retired Mike Woodson in the best interest of the IU basketball program. It was an atrocious decision then and hasn’t gotten any better four years later. I at least thought he’d be motivated to work hard at the job because he was an “IU guy,” but he’s shown he couldn’t care less. I reallyyy hope we only have two more months of this crap.
