  1. Yeah, because covid canceled the NCAA tournament in 2020 when IU was 20-12 and 9-11 in the conference, very comparable to the 20-13, 9-11 IU was in Woodson’s first season before the tournament. Woodson delivers marginally better results with enormous advantages no other IU coach had. Build the statue.
  2. ND should have to play in a conference to make the playoff, and all conferences should have to play 9 conference games.
  3. If high school recruiting wasn’t still important then you wouldn’t see top programs with the top classes. Right now the top 5 classes in 2025 are Duke, Houston, UConn, Arkansas, and Kentucky. The portal is a good way to fill out your team. Using it to build yours each year is a big risk. And it’s not like Woodson has just completely sworn off high schoolers. They offered a lot of kids in the 2025 class. They just didn’t want to play here.
  4. Bruce Pearl turned 57 in March of his third season. Mike Woodson turned 66 in March of his third season. You’re talking about a 9 year difference in age. The conversations about Mike Woodson would be much different if he was 9 years younger right now than he currently is.
  5. And also let us know how many of them were 66 years old.
  6. Oh yes, fans were so butthurt about senior day that they created a 670 page Fire Mike Woodson thread before senior day ever happened.
  7. This thread had 670 pages before senior day.
  8. Year 1 was pretty meh. We finished the regular season 18-12 and 9-11 in the conference, managed to sneak into the tournament after winning a couple of BTT games, before getting curb stomped by Saint Mary’s in the round of 64. Year 2 was better but underwhelming compared to the preseason expectations, and it too ended with a blowout loss early in the tournament. Combine the on-court results with his very prickly personality and lackluster effort on the recruiting trail and it’s crystal clear that this isn’t just about one “true fans” incident.
  9. Nope. Many of us wanted him gone from day 1 because we saw how bad of a hire he was. Nearly four years later and he’s done nothing to show otherwise - both on and off the court.
  10. Oops, that’s Friday night brain for ya
  11. Two of the ten. Arizona State/Texas and ND/PSU
  12. My hot take is that Ewers is overrated and Texas should’ve went with Arch this year..
  13. Should’ve put Arch in down there.
  14. I just can’t square his “deep love” for IU with the effort he puts into his job.
  15. Woodson’s probably an alright guy off the court. The players he does get to come to IU seem to like him enough. The way he’s approached the IU head coaching position and everything that comes with it has been a total disgrace, though.
  16. If one really feels the urge to defend Woodson at this juncture, high school recruiting really just isn’t the hump to die on…
  17. We have 8 guys who play at least 15 mpg: Ballo, Reneau, Mgbako, Rice, Galloway, Goode, Tucker, and Carylyle. Really only Galloway and Goode fit that bill, and Goode has only been on the team for a few months. Leal plays some too I don’t want to sidetrack the conversation, but I’m just not a fan. Maybe it’s because I’m older now, maybe it’s because I don’t live in Indiana anymore, maybe it’s due to the transfer portal. I don’t know. But I really just don’t feel any connection. It used to feel like these are guys playing for my school. Now it just largely feels like a random group of dudes wearing IU jerseys. 7 of the 13 scholarship players this year are new, and 6 of them are transfers. Before we’d follow these guys in high school recruiting for a year or two before they’d get to campus. Now IU doesn’t really do high school recruiting and then we find out in April who will be on the team the following year. It’s not just an IU problem, but I don’t like it.
  18. Not me. I’m on an iubb watching hiatus until Woodson is gone. Just not a guy I care to root for. The team being filled with mercenaries who came/stayed for the check doesn’t help either. My belief that he’ll be back next year is rooted in the incompetence of the IU administration. From hiring him in the first place to bringing him back this year, and everything in between, it’s been a disaster.
  19. I really don’t see that happening, honestly. He doesn’t really have to put up with any of that stuff because he just doesn’t do it. He doesn’t recruit. He doesn’t show up to support other programs. He doesn’t really do the usual iubb radio shows. He just shows up on game day and then goes back to smoking/drinking with the fellas. All while clearing $4 million a year. Pretty sweet gig. At least we have Coach Cig while we wait out this tenure.
  20. Yeah Bigfoot ain’t going anywhere.
  21. I was never a Dusty guy but he took over an 8-24 team and has his program in much better shape in year 1 than Woodson has his program in during year 4.
  22. Making the tournament and then getting the doors blown off like Woodson’s first two seasons would be a horrible result. It would likely save his job, but it won’t make any fans happy, and it won’t solve any of the other issues with the Woodson administration. The only thing it would accomplish is subjecting us to another year of this.
  23. If that was the case then the administration should’ve come out and said it. Ordinarily you wouldn’t because you don’t want to hurt recruiting, but Woodson doesn’t do any recruiting so that worry isn’t there. Instead we’re in a position where wins aren’t enjoyable because each one increases the perceived likelihood of going through another year of the crappy Mike Woodson experience.
  24. Imo I don’t know that crow would be the proper dish in this situation. We basically all want him gone after this season. Some of us just don’t have faith in the administration doing the best thing. We’ll all be losers if he’s back.
