  1. Troy's from Hampton, VA but Oladipo was a DC kid. They even mentioned him in the article and completely ignored the fact he went to IU lol.
  2. That article makes Crimson Quarry look Pulitzer Prize worthy. "IU fans are unrealistic and they lose their in-state talent to Duke and Kentucky, let's talk about all the talented DC kids in the NBA that didn't go to Georgetown. What a great job!"
  3. I think $3 million more a year hitting his bank account would give him a lot of happiness.. Hopefully enough to pry him away at least.
  4. Crean just has a personality that really irks me. He's incredibly arrogant and deflects blame. "I don’t think there’s any question that I had earned it (the extension)." "There’s got to be a partnership and it’s got to last through thick and thin. If it was all about winning and losing, I’d probably have gotten a different contract a year ago." Like really man? You had one really good year after two bad ones and there's "no question" you deserved an extension? Glass wanted to wait to see if you could be consistent, and you showed this year that you can't. Idk what else he wanted Glass to do to show they were on the "same page." He paid him a top-ten salary and gave him the conference's highest recruiting budget. Ugh. Tom Crean's one guy I'm not sad to see leave.
  5. I think the wider net would help fix some of the problems that people have with his offense. If Billy doesn't want to come here I hope we make a strong push for him. Played basketball at a high level, relatively young, great defense, recruits well, runs a clean program, postseason success. I don't see much to dislike.
  6. Idk what the admission requirements for athletes at either school are, but here are the overall numbers. UVA: 28.9% acceptance rate Middle 50% rate for SAT scores: 620-720 Critical Reading 630-740 Math 620-720 Writing IU: 78% acceptance rate Middle 50% rate SAT Scores (Critical Reading and Math 1110–1300
  7. I can't speak for any other student but I'm one that would be thrilled with Bennett. He recruits well and his team's play great defense. Consistently getting to the tournament is the key to tournament success and he does that. I don't care how many points we score if we win. If Donovan isn't interested we better be going all out for Bennett.
  8. Only Alford knows for sure why he handled it the way that he did. If he were to be named our coach I would want him to discuss the situation at length, explain why he did what he did, express remorse, acknowledge his mistakes, etc. Glass knows about the incident so if he were to pick Alford I would expect that the two would have discussed what went on. Glass laid out his expectations for our next coach so I don't think he would bring in Alford if he was uncomfortable about the Pierce incident.
  9. I don't think that if Alford truly knew that his guy was guilty of what he was accused of that he would've done the things that he did. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he's not that terrible of a guy that he would work so hard to keep a guy he knew was a rapist out of jail to win basketball games. I think he went to bat for someone that he honestly believed in and got burned because he trusted the wrong person. He deserves criticism for the way he handled it, but imo saying "he defended a rapist" implies that he knew Pierre Pierce was guilty, didn't care, and still defended him. Maybe that really was what happened, but all the reports make it seem like he believed Pierce was innocent.
  10. Alford didn't defend a rapist. He defended a man he believed to be innocent who ended up being a rapist. Maybe that's just semantics to you, but it's a key distinction imo.
  11. Not a clue, I just follow her on Instagram haha. If it's who I'm thinking of I can see why the players would be interested in making her acquaintance
  12. I think I know who this source you're talking about is lol
  13. Those interviews did a good job of reminding me why I dislike Crean.
  14. I heard the same thing a few years ago about one of the football players.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Glass low-balled him. You want to get your coach at the cheapest price possible. He's not going to walk in and offer Donovan $10 million a year at the beginning of negotiations. If Glass refuses to go higher though, then that's not good.
  16. Lol now the DH I can agree with you on! I've never known baseball without it, but I still think it's a dumb rule.
  17. If all the best schools are doing it I would rather roll in the mud with them than get left in the dust. Sure winning the "right way" is my preference, but if we have to operate in the gray areas to be elite then so be it.
  18. Noooo. Give me an entire coaching staff of Steve Alford's instead of that. Men's basketball and women's basketball are two completely different sports.
  19. OKC is nothing but a system for Westbrook to use to hunt for triple doubles these days. They'll lose in the first round and the franchise will begin to turn on Donovan. Russ leaves after next year and then he's stuck with a bunch of role players. We can give him a salary increase and a chance to actually coach again, and at the highest level in college basketball at that. A few more nights like tonight and we're gonna be looking pretty good to Billy.
  20. We knew this was probably going to happen, but it still sucks to see. Hopefully the other two guys stick with us.
  21. Well I didn't expect this much excitement this afternoon! An announcement would make sense to me. No games until Thursday so IU would be the center story for the next few days. I'm hoping for a big splash.
  22. I would be happy with Alford if he was our 6th or 7th choice and all the guys before him were approached about the job and declined. There are some positives to him and I think he could do good things here. If he was one of the first 2 or 3 guys on our list though, no bueno.
  23. Not gonna lie I got nervous when I first saw that we were hiring a search firm. As long as they're not the ones picking the candidates I'm not worried about it though.
