College Conference/Football Expansion
Magnanimous replied to CrossboneIU22's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
The same logic here could be applied to Texas and OU staying in the Big 12, but they jumped anyway. I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but we may need to stop thinking of these conferences in the traditional sense (for football) and begin discussing which one (or two) is going to be a defacto semi-pro league for top NFL prospects. The Cincinnati Bengals are nothing special, but they’re still in the club while the Toronto Argonauts are not. If something bigger like that is in works, the question for Michigan and Penn State is do they want to be in this new paradigm or be relegated to a lower level that top high school players don’t want to play in and big time networks don’t want to pay top dollar for. -

Sounds like this is more of an ESPN vs. FOX battle then it is an SEC vs. B1G one. -

Throwing this out there just for folks to chew on…purely for anonymous online message board purposes - should IU try to go to the SEC (if they would even take us…)? If the SEC is ultimately working towards some super NFL-lite league that only consists of SEC schools and invited brand names, I feel like we could be on the outside looking in if OSU, Michigan and maybe Penn State break away from the Big Ten for us to be stuck in some tier 2 football conference that no network is going to pay big money for. In such a scenario, we may be fighting with Purdue for any Indiana breadcrumb this new super conference may offer (taking Notre Dame out of the equation). Schools like Kansas State and Iowa State may find themselves waking up very quickly to not having the gravy train they received from the football powers in their conference. We’re spared from that right now because the B1G is still very stable, but if OSU wakes up one day and says “why should Rutgers and Indiana be getting shares of my TV revenue?” then we could get pinched pretty quickly. I’m not sure what contracts or “gentlemen agreements” are currently in place between the B1G schools about such a thing, but I also know that contractual obligations to a dying status quo means zilch these days with realignment. I’ll say this as well, I have no faith that Kevin Warren can keep the B1G in tact if the new super SEC comes knocking on OSU’s door. -
I’ve seen this UNC talk on other sites as well every time B1G expansion comes up….There’s not a shot that they’d ever leave the ACC unless the ACC had dwindled to the point it was bordering on becoming a G5 conference. It would be like Alabama leaving the SEC.

Can we just rename Rutgers “Aaron Craft”? Baker and Harper are back again?? -

One of Master P’s sons had his own episode of MTV Cribs when he still a kid. I would consider this an outlier. -

This is going to a race to the bottom for most of these players...”Order PizzaX and use my code @TimPriller for $2 off every 15 orders.” -

Swimming too, especially with Olympians being on the M/W rosters. Lily King would’ve left IU as a millionaire if this was in place five years ago. -

Schwarbers hotter than Nick Pappageorgio at a craps table. -

He’s on pace to break Roger Maris’ HR record by August -
NC State just got booted from the CWS for positive tests brought on by a lack of vaccinated players. Sounds like they got a bit screwed with this, but hopefully it serves a lesson for other teams, including ours, as they gear up for “normal” fall and winter seasons.

Pacers get to stay in NBA purgatory with another late lottery pick! Seriously...they haven’t picked higher than 10th since 1989. Perfect place to be situated when you’re not a FA destination.

Schwarber has five HRs in the last two games, now up to 18 on the season for him. -
I like them all except the black alternate. It’s not part of our school colors and has no business being one of our uniforms. The Cam Cameron-era football helmets should’ve ended that experiment.

The board was Ben McCollum or bust.

If Indiana hired Hubert Davis or Jon Scheyer this board would’ve been apoplectic.

USC Stephen Carr to transfer to IU
Magnanimous replied to southsidehoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
USC fans kept saying he wasn’t utilized out there in a way that maximized his potential. Hopefully he has a Jordan Howard-like impact for his one year in Bloomington. -
AH needs to just scrap the balconies. Build more seats around the non-suite baseline and make it a steep horseshoe.

Proposed Men's Bball Rule Changes

This is what happens when people have to justify why their jobs exist. -
I hope that between the two new guards, new coaching scheme and some offseason development we’re not only competitive but winning the close games we kept losing last year. However, while I’m glad to see kids buying into Woodson’s vision and some stability through the coaching change, this team has been pretty bad the last few seasons. I hope this isn’t setting up to be like Crean’s third, but I’m cautiously optimistic about a significant jump next year returning the same players from a bad team.

He was there in 2015-16 when Bryant, OG and Morgan were freshmen, plus Yogi another NBA player on the roster.
