  1. What’s the O/U on how many days he’s in rehab?
  2. We did do the same thing every down, which was make Alabama football look like Purdue and beat the crap out of them. So I agree with Ty in that it was very predictable. It’s probably why Alabama football essentially quit against Indiana within a few minutes into the second half.
  3. Is there any thought/fan fiction of bringing Lemonis back if Mercer can’t turn this thing around?
  4. They just missed the cut. I’d prefer we play three CFP games again instead of four, but if four…we can add Texas and just smack three SEC teams in a row. Notre Dame is #1 for who needs a beat down from us though, so they can’t be dropped.
  5. Me neither, but it would be hilarious to beat them twice in a season. I’d prefer not to play OSU twice in a season, and I’m getting a little tired of seeing us beat the crap out of Oregon. Some variety wouldn’t hurt haha.
  6. Last year was a great run for decapitating sh*thead fan bases - Penn State, Ohio State, Alabama and Miami (Oregon fans are actually very chill). For next year’s championship run I would love to mix things up and take out LSU, Georgia and Notre Dame (plus Michigan twice - regular season and Big Ten championship).
  7. Fernando and Coach Cignetti were spotted together in Times Square today.
  8. Which is why we should’ve offered him after Archie…
  9. The channel Hardcore College Football History has quickly become one of my favorites on the history of this sport. The channel’s creator, Jon Johnston, is a Nebraska native and alumnus, and his knowledge of Nebraska football is second to none. His most recent video is about Jumbo Stiehm, UN’s coach from 1911-1915, and why he left Nebraska to come to IU. It picks up on IU around the 11 minute mark. While Stiehm did not have the same success at IU, his early death at age 37 is one of the many “what if’s” in IUFB history, somewhat akin to being a Terry Hoeppner in the early 1920s.
  10. Outside of the Al Skinner era, BC has zero basketball history. Weird comparison.
  11. End up like Boston College…? A school with no money, tradition, fans or history? What? Churning through coaches every three years is how you end up like Boston College (record wise and a place no decent coaching candidate will give any real consideration). And how do you define “something to believe in”? Because the following coaches would have all been fired using your criteria: Mike Krzyzewski - 34-47 in his first three seasons at Duke, no NCAAT appearances Jay Wright - 52-46 in his first three seasons at Nova, no NCAAT appearances Tony Bennett - 76-53 in his first four seasons at Virginia, one NCAAT appearance (no tournament wins) John Beilein - 46-53 in his first three seasons at Michigan, one NCAAT appearance after finishing 7th in the B1G (one tournament win) Scott Drew - 81-95 in his first six seasons at Baylor, one NCAAT appearance (no tournament wins) Kelvin Sampson - 56-40 in his first three seasons at Houston, no NCAAT appearances I am in no way saying we hire someone who very likely would struggle coaching at this level (e.g., Ben Jacobson). But again, we have made it past the SW16 ONCE in 32 years. This program needs some stability and a cultural enema. The coaching market isn’t what it used to be. We’ve found this out. Kentucky has found this out. UNC is about to find this out. Meanwhile Nebraska is finally killing it with a competent coach that took serval years to get going.
  12. I’ll repeat what I said in 2021, Ben McCollum is the best coach in the country. Glad we didn’t hire him…
  13. That team blows my mind. We beat Kansas and UNC that year (two one seeds), and still missed the NCAAT.
  14. We’ve been past the SW16 once since 1993…I’m not saying we should’ve kept Crean, but sorry, this goes beyond just hiring bad coaches. Any program with our resources and focused interest in this sport should fall @$$ backwards into an E8 at least once a decade…
  15. He’s already going to the Basketball Hall of Fame for his career as a D2 coach.
  16. Ben McCollum…what could’ve been…
  17. But how many would leave their program to coach m us if the job opened tomorrow?
  18. To reiterate the point made in my original post that no one read haha, why would a coach already having that level of success want to come here? Clearly our willingness to spend isn’t doing the trick.
  19. It feels longer nationally though because we haven’t been past the SW16 in 24 years, and we actually only did it once in 32 years…The lack of postseason runs has been killing us, and that goes back much longer than 8 years.
  20. I personally want DeVries gone and to bring in someone with that attitude ASAP. That’s partly why I wanted McCollum, because is both fiery and has a system he wants to run. But again, whether it’s DeVreies because he improves next year or the coach that comes after, we let him breathe. We don’t start a “Fire ____” thread after two seasons. Cig had the attitude and chops to win, but he was also allowed to literally do whatever he wanted to define his program’s culture and approach. He didn’t have meddling boosters telling him what to do or have to adhere to any inherited image or culture of the IU football program. The first thing he did was throw out the LEO signs. Again, would he have been allowed to do things his way at a Texas or an Auburn?
  21. That’s a fair point, but you can look at it different ways. Crean’s first three years was the worst stretch in program history. He then had the top ranked program in the country by Year 5. Things can change if given time. Yes, a coach needs to show a baseline level of competency, but he also needs to be given time to build his culture and make it sustainable. I’m well aware that other coaches have walked into other programs and been successful much quicker. This is an Indiana problem.
  22. Because Cig was coaching with no external pressure and was allowed to do things his way from scratch. Would he have been allowed to bring 13 JMU transfers with him and start them if he was at Auburn or Oklahoma?
