Team was better than last year’s…let’s hope next year’s improves upon this season. We don’t deserve to make the tournament (sans a great BTT run), but we are an NCAA-caliber team and objectively are a 9 seed in terms of talent. Just had a few games slip away this year that we needed to put our stamp on. Not trying to put lipstick on a pig, this program has a ways to go, but if we take that next step I think it puts our roster more in the 5-7 seed range rather than the next step being a bubble team in the tourney. I will say that last few minutes of todays game was the most alive I’ve felt as an IUBB fan in the five years, so that’s something I guess…

Strong finish to the half. X needs to keep leading this team if they’re going to keep it close in the second.

Soapbox time. My two cents on storming the court…generally IU should be above it. Us storming the court in Crean’s second year after beating Minnesota was rock bottom for the program, and yes the expectation for this program and fanbase is it shouldn’t be a surprise for us to beat anybody at home. HOWEVER… I can’t imagine how much it probably sucks to be a college student these days. These kids have had a lot of joy and potential memories stripped from them these last few years because of Covid. Wear a face mask in class, if you’re even allowed to come to class at all? When I was at IU one of my classmates showed up drunk during Little 5 week, passed out in front of the teacher and broke his nose on the classroom floor. Then he got arrested in the bathroom after a janitor found him asleep on the toilet. For some of these kids they didn’t even see their classmates’ noses for over a year. Add this on top of many of them never had a senior prom, spent weeks quarantined in their dorms, lived in a shell of one of the best college towns in the country, and may very well leave IU with a fraction of the memories most of us had when we were there. Let them eat cake, let them storm the court, and let them have some fun. They deserve it and then some. They’ll never get this time back.

This should be the norm for all of society. The UK just dropped pre-flight testing for inbound international passengers since just about everyone will test positive at this point and testing is doing zilch to stop the spread. Barring a much deadlier variant that vaccines are completely useless against, it’s time to start treating this like other cold-like diseases.

This kid Jamarion Sharp for Western Kentucky has been a lot of fun to watch tonight. Tallest player in the country at 7’5” but he’s pretty agile and coordinated for someone that size.

Johnson’s decision making sealed this game, but coach and teammates need to get on that after the second time he shot.
