Great touch by Bazelak. He seems poised when has time to read the field. -

B1G Inks Lucrative New TV Deal w/ CBS, FOX, & NBC
Magnanimous replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We’ll see how ESPN approaches Game Day and if Big Ten schools are not considered as host sites anymore, even if ESPN isn’t airing the actual game. However, I think that the Big Ten will still get enough coverage during the Game Day segments for no other reason than both Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard are Big Ten homers. If not, maybe they both get frustrated they can’t talk about their schools and hop to FOX to team up with Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt for a new game day format. This may shape up to be akin to the WWF/WCW ratings wars of the late 90s. -
D.J. White Retiring from Basketball
Magnanimous replied to ccgeneral's topic in Hoosiers in the Pros
The most underappreciated player in the last 20 years of IUBB. It’s a shame his senior year was so overshadowed by the Sampson scandal. Congrats DJ on making basketball a career and best of luck to the next chapter! -
Tegray Scales - Orlando Guardians (XFL)
Magnanimous replied to Dalton26's topic in Hoosiers in the Pros
I’m glad he’s still getting a chance. I really thought he would find a place by now as a special teams player or on a defense running a 3-4. He’s a little undersized, but he’s strong as hell and quick for his position. It feels like he’s been out of here for a while, but he’s only 26, so there’s still some time before the window closes on him. -
Still need to be strategic about letting too many juggernauts into the conference, which in turn pushes us further down the totem pole in conference value contributions. I think there are too many intricacies between Big Ten universities that come with membership (research funding, library resources, etc.) to have “dead weight programs” actually be voted out, but if ND joins, there would be three Indiana teams in the conference…so we have to be judicious about this. What if one day Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Bama and Georgia no longer want to share equal media revenue with schools like IU and Vandy? Of the bottom tier B1G football programs, Rutgers and Maryland at least bring their own unique and valuable markets and Northwestern has the obvious edge in academics and some football success.

Schwarber with another another home run, 27 on the season now. -
Pretty interesting data with how the current Big Ten and potential candidates stack up.

UCLA and USC Joining the Big Ten
Magnanimous replied to nerdvana's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think that ultimately USC and UCLA would like to have some competition closer to home as well. -
UCLA and USC Joining the Big Ten
Magnanimous replied to nerdvana's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I halfheartedly floated this idea elsewhere on the topic, but if the “P2 Superconference” college football model breaks away from the NCAA and becomes the “official” minor league of pro football, how about IU and Purdue become minor league affiliates for the Colts? -
Unless the mega-conferences go to 24, I think Duke ends up in the Big East.

Sounds like Michigan is going to hire Tracy Smith to be their HC.

UCLA and USC Joining the Big Ten
Magnanimous replied to nerdvana's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
As the super conference concept becomes the de facto NFL minor league (like it wasn’t already…), IU needs to become a farm team affiliate for the Colts and Bengals. -

USC vs Washington St in the Rose Bowl should be fun… -

Wouldn’t be surprised if Oregon and several others join as well. If it was my call, I’d also take Oregon, Stanford and Washington, then give Notre Dame 72 hours to decide before offering Colorado. 20 teams with four pods of 5 teams. -
Time to update that Big Ten map commercial with this:
-
The ACC just dropped football divisions starting in the 2023 season.
-
I agree. However, and this is my own bias, I live on the east coast and half my family went to Penn State. I hope with any new scheduling the Hoosiers still come east to either MD and Rutgers, and of the big boy programs we play Penn State and Michigan more than the others. OSU and Wisconsin can take a hike. Going back to 8 conference games would be ideal. Four games against Western, Eastern, Northern, and Southern Kentucky and also Purdue every year should keep us in the bowl eligibility conversation on a near annual basis.
-
The Big Ten has just pulled all conference schedules after the 2022 season, and there are rumors of dropping the divisions. This is following in the footsteps of the Pac12 doing the same as the NCAA changed its conference championship requirements. Guess we may be getting an announcement shortly?

As a fellow Giants fan I’m very happy about this. They should’ve picked a Micah last year too, but this one to be excited about. Gotta get the stench of Gettleman out of that stadium!

Ranking: Best CBB Programs the last Decade
Magnanimous replied to Loaded Chicken Sandwich's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Does last decade include Kentucky’s 2012 title? Don’t understand how they’re below Michigan if it does. Otherwise nice work, would be nice to see some data behind this. -
If it was south of 17th then he’s a huge idiot instead of an idiot.
