  1. Better playcalling would’ve helped. Too many QB draws, not throwing over the middle, not getting creative to make up for offensive deficiencies, formations to get an extra blocker in place, etc.
  2. There’s really only three things and they’ve all been said already: 1) New OC 2) New O-line coach 3) It’s time to move on from both Penix and Tuttle and let McCauley be first string, unless a big time transfer comes in. Penix’s health cannot be counted on. If he wants to stay around the program as a rotational backup that’s his choice (he won’t), but it’s no longer his team. Tuttle had a nice win over Wisconsin last year, but he’s the definition of a game manager QB and is good for 14 points a game, at best. With the new transfer portal, IU will never be as lacking in talent as we have been in the past, even following down years. There are too many talented backups at other P5 programs that want to start for us to ever go back to having a secondary comprised of our baseball team ala the Bill Lynch era. This year has sucked, but overall we haven’t been that far out considering our lack of offense. With a competent playcaller and productive QB we win the Cincy, MSU, and Maryland games and would very likely win at least two of the next three. That’s a 7-8 win season which is what most were honestly expecting coming into the year under the assumption of a healthy and productive Penix. I can’t get on board with the notion this program has completely reset because of this year. Down years happen to all teams, and when a down year happens to (at best) middle of the road teams, they only win 2-4 games…Even if Allen is going to be the long term answer with this team, there will be more years like this. Just look at Northwestern. Some years they win 8-10 games, others they win 3-5. At second level programs like ours the margin between success and failure is just more precarious given the lack of overall talent. Tom Allen’s ability to recruit and motivate a defense is worth its weight in gold at a program like ours. But we need to open up the checkbook and really sure up the offensive side of the ball.
  3. When your OC has further to go than your freshman QB…
  4. The draft contract offering Brad Stevens $10m/yr.
  5. Michigan - 38 IU - 6 Doesn’t mean last season was a fluke.
  6. At the game and everyone is dogging the playcalling.
  7. This pretty much captures OSU football fans when they come to town.
  8. This is first half prediction thread, right…?
  9. We could lose out and getting rid of CTA wouldnt even be a fleeting thought in the AD’s office. Changes need to be made, but it starts with the OC and O-line coaches, not HC.
  10. How much do parking passes usually go for? Tickets in that section are selling for $75 a piece on stubhub.
  11. I thought that may have been at the end of the season, but good to know you’re updating it each week. Must be a lot of work but thanks for doing this!
  12. I think you didn’t count one of the weeks. Looks like the week 1 scores weren’t carried over to week 2.
  13. We would’ve beaten Cincinnati with QB play like this. Tuttle looking great and solid play calling too.
  14. Penix out indefinitely with separated throwing shoulder.
  15. As does any coach’s. It was a baseless comment.
  16. You never pass on points off a turnover, let alone in the first half…
  17. He stunk without James Hardy, that’s why. When he no longer had Hardy to run 40 yards downfield double-covered so he could scramble, he was SOL. Plus his off the field problems sealed the deal….
  18. He was inconsistent but was on more than off. This year he has no on button.
  19. Back then our offense could score. On the other hand, our defense couldn’t stop a thing. Our secondary roster management was like high school athletics. Bring over talented athletes from other sports because we couldn’t recruit anyone. Our games were inevitably shootouts as a result with the other team usually winning by either a blowout or in the last minute because we couldn’t stop anyone.
  20. At least we could score then
