  1. My thoughts on Stevens...A currently employed NBA coach that is poised to make a playoff run leaving for a college team is an incredibly tough scenario to envision, especially if the vacancy is there mid-March.. Either he leaves now(ish), say late March early April, or he waits until his season is over, which could very well be sometime in May. Does this position just sit open until then? Does he leave his current gig a few weeks before the playoffs begin? Does the college team keep their lame-duck coach until May and fire him then? Or does he accept it and then continue coach in the NBA? The answer to all four questions is a resounding "no." I know that Pitino left the Knicks for the UK job that was sitting vacant for two months, but in today's world of the transfer market and instant eligibility, an incoming coach cannot wait until summer to build a roster. Pitino also had a grace period of being ineligible for the NCAAT his first two years at UK.
  2. Welcome back Sampson...
  3. I don't buy this. Dolson seems like he cares. The BOT consists of eight member, one of whom is Quinn Buckner. Another trustee, James Morris, is vice chairman of Pacers Sports and Entertainment and was previously treasurer of the U.S. Olympic Committee. So 25% of our BOT built their careers with a focus on sports. McRobbie may not be the biggest basketball fan, but he isn't completely indifferent to IU athletics. In fact, the only time IU has given a flying f*** about our facilities since the early 70s has been during his tenure. Cook Hall, renovating Assembly Hall, two additions to Memorial Stadium, Bart Kaufman Field.
  4. I’m seeing that the IU fanbase is starting to refer to his tenure as Arch Sadness.
  5. Whoever the next coach is, there needs to be some baseline incentive built into the contract that if you, for example, don't have a winning conference record in three years your buyout drops by 50% at that point. This crap can't be allowed anymore from the get-go.
  6. Yet at the time Archie was considered as the best candidate of the three...
  7. I do think the pavilion in the back and the quota for the upstairs hurt Sports. It was always the place to end the night. Like you mentioned, after midnight everyone would head to sports, but it was always good the entire weekend. Outside when the weather was nice was always fun, including the upstairs deck.
  8. On a weekend night? Seems like a complete waste and filling both wasn’t an issue “back in my day.”
  9. The downtown party scene (pre-Covid) isn’t the same as it was a decade ago. I graduated in 2011 and went back for grad school in 2016-17. I forgot which day it was but when I was there in grad school, either Friday or Saturday, but Kilroys Sports wasn’t even open. That was unheard of a decade ago, one of the most popular bars being closed one day each weekend. Maybe someone can explain it me because it didn’t make any sense and when it was open it was never as packed as it used to be. Downtown for Halloween wasn’t as crazy either when I went back. The busiest I ever saw the bars during that 2016-17 period was when the Cubs won the WS. Brothers and the Tap were just as popular, but Sports being that dead was shocking. Tailgating went to hell for students too. Instead of a madhouse free for all, there was now a designated fenced in area for the frats that you needed to go through security to get into (I wasn’t trying to drink with the Greeks in grad school...but another observation). Everything felt watered down. Little 5 concerts seemed weaker, and nothing even remotely resembled when Girl Talk in the rain tore up Dunn Meadow (2009 I think?).
  10. I obviously can’t predict anything and it’s not a guarantee he’s gone anyway, but I don’t see anything happening until after the selection show or even the tournament starting. We’re way on the outside looking in, and it’s obviously a long shot, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility that as the local host we’re on standby for opening weekend in case more teams can’t participate and travel due to Covid. I’m also currently in line waiting for a sandwich to be made, so this is where my thoughts are going while I wait for a panini.
  11. We actually look competent pushing the ball in transition. Where has this been?
  12. Shon Morris not being shy in calling out our abhorrent half court spacing.
  13. Gonzaga is my pick to win it all, which means they won’t win it.
  14. It’s going to be weird when Brad Stevens leaves the Celtics with a month left in the regular season to become our coach....
  15. If we’re willing to pay our FB HC that much, hopefully it’s a sign that we’re willing to spend on bball.
  16. This has been up all day. Normally they get corrected within an hour.
  17. So you’re saying he won’t get fired at tip-off of the first NCAA game like Crean was?
  18. 4) Archie’s job status has been blasted across the country for over a week and our AD has said nothing.
  19. Fans will be back in the stands and next season will fall off a cliff by mid-Jan, especially if there’s no TJD. It could get really bad for all parties if this is allowed to linger for over two months to end next season.
  20. His buyout drop also doesn’t hit until April 1, 2022. There would be no firing next year until the season was complete. Considering this roster with Archie as coach is probably finishing 11th or worse in the B1G next season, we’d going to be calling for his firing well before April. If he’s not even going to make it through next season you fire him now.
  21. Good stuff. Yet I still have a strange feeling that this class is the best we've had since 2015...
  22. I'm in the same boat about being disappointed this didn't pan out. However, letting a team that is 1-16 from 3 keep shooting kind of proves his "no nonsense" approach is BS.
