Watching a decent amount of this event, watched both games today, reminds me why soccer at the international level completely blows and I’ll never be a fan. Between the nonstop flopping and embellishment and the officiating pretty shamelessly putting it’s thumb on the scale from game to game it feels stunningly like the WWE. Doubt I’ll watch any more.

If they watched Jenkins today they’ll certainly keep pushing hard for a visit because they saw him really good. Was super engaged. Played with great energy and ran hard end to end which he doesn’t always do. Made a cute lefty jump hook off glass(he’s right handed) and dropped a little teardrop rolling down the lane that was a tough finish. Also made a 3 and his stroke looked good, though it usually does. His appeal is pretty obvious in the current roster building environment. He’s a physically mature and talented big kid who’ll be ready to contribute as a freshman and yet there’s no chance he’s a 1 year guy and his game is better suited to college because he’s not super athletic and he could certainly stay 4 years. I’ve become pretty fond of this one.

This is gonna be a fascinating situation to watch. Trent Jr isn’t worth anywhere near that. Nowhere close. A low efficiency shooter and mediocre defender. Dude’s a dime a dozen player and they sign him to 64 mil fully guaranteed. Clearly shady and there’s already speculation that the League will investigate it for being that ridiculous. This should be fun.

CTC is right of course, the overreaction to stuff is comic, but I would like to point out that he offered Grant Gelon off a single viewing and it wasn’t even a game.

Here’s definitely the thing if you’re gonna roster build by wading neck deep into the international market, you better make sure they make it to campus.

Ok, I don’t care if 60’s soul is your thing or not, you gotta listen to this once. Cry Baby is basically only known for Janis Joplin’s version. Perfectly reasonable because it’s fantastic. But this is the original from 1963 by a guy named Garnet Mimms. Oh my God, this vocal is astounding. What a freakin’ talent this guy was. My favorite male soul vocals have always been Sam Cooke’s, “ A Change is Gonna Come” and Jackie Wilson’s, “Lonely Teardrops.” But this thing, man, I’m gonna have to chew on that a little bit.

It’s funny because it’s true.

This will an interesting 1 to watch. His tools and athleticism and effort are top shelf, but physically and skill development-wise he is not Flagg or Dybantsa. He’ll be fine because he’s that talented but if the expectation is that he makes their impact I think there could be a fair amount of disappointment.
