I saw an awesome IU cheating video yesterday about their 4 1st drive interceptions this year. He clipped them and the 3 other than Ponds were: 1) a tipped ball at the line of scrimmage, 2) a throw that would have hit Fisher in the mask if he hadn’t caught it, and 3) a sideline pick as the QB was scrambling against PU. Seriously. We’ve arrived!

I’ll probably scribble some thoughts tonight. Special emphasis on Jason Crowe Jr, who might be a pretty fair example of a really talented kid who may not be worth the trouble.

If your top 2 scorers go 4-25 from 3 that’s a little rough.

It’s tough to imagine a trait Cig would have more contempt for than being erratic.

What’s the consensus on what’s diminished since he was hurt? Has he lost 1st step explosion, which might be pretty problematic given the nature of this team’s running scheme, or has he lost some lateral quickness, which would probably be a little lesser thing?

2 things and then I’m off to watch Chase Branham play: 1) Wilkerson is doing his best Buddy Hield impression at this point. He needs some screening help but he’s just nasty. And his defense is playing, which is un-Buddy like. 2) As much as I like what DDV does, and I really do, this is the 3rd game in a row they’ve started an end of half action at :06, which means that’s what he’s coaching. He’s wrong on that one, College players need to start at :08, minimum, maybe even :10. They didn’t get a good look on any of them.

And I guess the underlying thought here is you just aren’t allowed to turn things around immediately. You have to stack 3 or 4 recruiting classes and suffer until those kids are developed and ready. It’s archaic and ridiculous. And they’ve stacked back to back, what, 24 man HS classes. Eventually they’ll be the base and culture builders of the program and there’ll be less portal activity. I’m confident that’s the plan. But if you bring in the right portal guys they lay the foundation and off you go. Do these idiots think Mendoza and Sarratt and Coogan and Fisher and Ponds and Nowakowski are mercenaries and not great culture guys? Jesus Christ.

I’ll put my loathing of excessive eligibility on par with anyone’s, but this mushrooming narrative that IU is basically AAAA guys beating up on kids is REALLY starting to pi$$ me off.
