I think we’ll be able to surmise Haines’ longer term future with some reasonable confidence by mid-January. If he’s not coming up attached to any college jobs in December or any pro DC jobs the 1st couple of weeks in January given his age and how hot he is it probably becomes pretty reasonable to assume that there’s an agreed upon succession plan stuck in a drawer somewhere. Maybe, maybe not but that feels like the math of the situation to me.

I suppose we’ll know more accurately next portal season when we see who stays, but I don’t think there’s much doubt they paid above market on most if not all these kids to sign them to multiyear deals. Last portal cycle 5 in 5 wasn’t locked down yet and the only kid under the old model with 1 year left would have been Lindsay. Everyone else had 2, now 3, and I’m sure buying them out of retesting the market again in April was expensive. And I’m 100% down with that plan. Whether that was DDV or Carr or a mutually conceived plan, bravo.

Yup, the Breslin crowd was objectively great. They did a terrific job with that event. And I’d be perfectly comfortable playing that team. Unless Scott is on I don’t see where their actual shotmaking comes from unless Jervis is ready to be that as a frosh and that seems like asking a lot. UConn beats Mich St by 8 at Breslin without Mullins. UConn is, unsurprisingly, clearly really good. MSU looks like another one of those Izzo teams where, sure, they’re gonna be good but they’re not always gonna score it real well. Despite having a lot of their perimeters kids back when Fears didn’t have the ball in his hands they weren’t getting much done at all.

If anyone is ever looking for the perfect example of “a distinction without a difference”, this guy just served it up. So, what, seniors who’ve used up their eligibility aren’t automatically draft eligible unless they declare? Wait, pretty sure they are since, ya know, they always have been.

Watched a couple of 16U Team Loaded games after the staff offered Hudson Hatch and Hall was the kid who popped on that team. Big frame. Can really move his feet.

Freddie is 1 of the most under-appreciated real Hoosiers. He has always stayed hooked up with the program from a distance in a way a lot of guys you would have expected to be haven’t.

The x-factor without any doubt at all is Harris. Using your comparisons from above, all correct, Harris is not Wilkerson. He’s a great looking shooter but at no point has he actually been a great shooter. Even his scoring at Paul VI was a lot more bully ball than raining 3’s. But I like what DDV is doing basically trying to rebuild his confidence from scratch after the Duke washout. If he’s able to pull it off, and I’m not super optimistic on this one, and Harris becomes a guy with real gravity that changes a lot and the ceiling of this team is a fair bit higher. But if he’s not making shots he’s not good enough to elevate you in any other way. I really want to be wrong here and DDV to be right and if he turns that kid into a winning player I will be very, very impressed.

I’ve come around on the ‘22’s getting the 5th year. There’s a logic to it and a legitimate question of fairness. But TKR was a ‘21 and he’s already had 5 years. And he wasn’t an injury RS, he was a developmental RS. And he’s 24. The only argument for him is that he just doesn’t want to go overseas.

Your wish is Carlie’s command. I assume the next move is Dodds or whomever is playing GM for now moves everyone with any value at all. Accumulate all the picks you can.
