Good money makes money. Gotta build a relevant team at some point one way or another. And we don’t have a lot to sell.

Yeah, really just excuses amongst excuses. Building from scratch can be a good thing. Too bad we didn’t focus on getting 9 great players. And some athletes that match the level. Didn’t need 13 plus.

Top 5 least favorite season for me. This team is painful. Par for course. We’ve had about 4 fun games all year. Exceeded expectations rarely. So severely outmanned. I stated my concerns strongly while this roster was being built. Coaching staff should’ve known better.

Very fascinating. Huge money industry functioning like the Wild West. Curious to see what thoughts come out of this.

I think the Purdue model is likely the ideal plan for Carr and DeVries. For that to work, you gotta scout, develop, and coach your @$$ off. Painter has proven proficient at all 3. I don’t hate it. I kinda like it. But DeVries isn’t Painter and we are Indiana and should be able to double the NIL of Purdue allowing us to build something a little different. Hopefully these smart basketball minds can come together and figure things out. You need 10. 8 Healthy and ready to go. Invest in 8-10 and fill with super low cost back end pieces. It’ll help in team chemistry as well with every player having a piece of the pie. Even though Carr has my dream job and has 25 years of experience I’m still auditioning for the part and convinced I can help. lol.

This is concerning to me. #ballingonabudget. See how it worked out for Marquette. We are going to need strong contributors off the bat to compete. And it will be hard keep guys that don’t play. I guess we will see

I did. And I do. I genuinely like the team as people and humans. I feel bad for them that our program and coach didn’t get them enough talent to achieve their dreams. Imo, we let them down. Make the tournament at minimum. Give these kids a lifetime memory. I’m more upset for the kids and their families than I am for me as a fan. I want to feel good about the program. Achieving successes is a big part of that. Maybe we rally and beat MSU and get back on the bubble. Wouldn’t put it past them at all. Don’t see us winning at OSU though. Rooting for these kids and Lamar.

Sure. Maybe, but he was very specific. And why wouldn’t they think that? Top 20 resources, at worst? It was just never close. Eye test and otherwise has been accurate all along. DeVries and his assistants missed the mark. I believe that was internal locker room talk filtering out. But everyone has a right to their opinion.

Yeah, Wilkerson is a dreamer and it’s why he’s had the success he’s had. He believes and works and Carries confidence. Love him. He’s got his own limitations and what not. But he said it as the locker room thinks they are (were) a top 10 team. They probably think differently now. It’s top down confidence building. Can’t fault it. except maybe next year we try to actually build a top 10 caliber roster. Offseasons are crazy. Look at Maryland. They suck. But they probably get a redshirt Pharrell Payne back, Darius Adams, top 10 Baba Oladun, Passmore plus money to spend. That’s a crappy team that can flip it fairly easily. Maybe 2 impact guys? Lots of teams will set up like this. We’ve got our work cut out for us.

Unless he builds some enthusiasm the stands will remain empty until he wins. I don’t think he will, but building a top 20 roster would help with that. There was zero juice behind the roster build. They did some cool things to try to promote this team, but there was never any thought we had a contender. Winning is ultimately what matters but winning in the off-season has its benefits. Plus, most of the truly top 20 rosters actually end up being good. Unless Woodson coaches them. Then they end up 40-70. Woodys last team could have been so good if they didn’t pick Myles Rice and K9 and actually got a legit 1 and 2. Man. Woody and his blown chances.

Lamar Wilkerson said it after a game. He said we believe we are a top 10 team. I mean, dream big, but saying you can compete and saying you are a top 10 team are 2 different things. My opinion is this was top down thinking. I mean why not, you had top 20 funding, that could equate into a top 10 team.

Simple answer is not good. He knows it and everyone knows it. I can’t get over the fact of how his offseason went and what he built. It wasn’t good enough then and it’s not good enough now. Internally these guys thought they were a top 10 team. And that’s where my concern lies. I knew. You had to know. Not knowing is a window into the cluelessness that’s guiding the multimillion dollar program. The choices were questionable as they were occurring. When you build to just make the tourney vs build to compete to win conferences, when you fall short the consequences are more dire. It’s a start over from scratch situation. Other schools are way ahead of us, and this season didn’t help to catapult us from a recruiting perspective. And the coaching and the stuff we run?? It’s ok. It comes and goes. Some good stuff in there but some other questionable things that aren’t all personel related.

Cushy gig with almost no stress. Wonder what the contract is? I need one of these jobs.

The confident player/team won the game tonight. This has been a theme all season. Either we get trounced because our talent isn’t up to par, or we tense up when the other team fights back. So disappointed in our team and coach.

Geez. I haven’t even been good at this, this season.

Letting Martinelli switch onto Enright at the end was coaching malpractice. Should have had Miles defending him the last 5 minutes. Or maybe Sisley. Idk. We don’t really have any good defenders. But not DeVries or Enright. I’m pissed.

My least favorite season in a while. No preseason hype. No momentum. Just was never confident we were good. Hard to get excited when you already know we whiffed on the roster build. Then the season plays out about exactly like you’d expect it. Living on the bubble. And then going to miss. The burners defending Woodson for 2 seasons was awful too. But those teams at least felt like the could be good for moments. All 3 seasons virtually identical. And all of them suck.

Embarrassed. DeVries has made his tenure much more difficult by his coaching and this roster build.

Martinelli ended our season. lol. What a joke.

I know all the players. Good kids. Mediocre basketball team.
