I was just thinking, that final 5 minutes we needed someone to step up and take some shots. Bailey tried to step up to no avail. DeVries is always pumpfaking and no one is ever biting on it. He has time to shoot. Then after the pumpfake when the defender doesn’t bite, they are locked up on him. He needs to fire a few of those.

How is Darian DeVries Doing So Far?

No doubt. He’s been a savior. Entirely new dynamic when you possibly have 3 of the best shooters in the country on the floor together. It’s covering up a lot of flaws. But also, the defensive effort is much improved. Credit where due. DeVries has done some interesting things defensively with Enright and game planning. It reminds me so much about the things Woodson never figured out. He was so stuck in his ways. Trying to platoon a second unit. Not riding a hot hand. Not subbing for bad play. Not going 2 for 1. Just super basic stuff. At the moment, I see none of that stuff. My biggest thing with DeVries is can he with our resources, get enough talent to compete at the top. I think and have thought we were 2 pieces away from a top level team, especially after Dorns arrival. -
Terrible season for Oregon this year, but Iowa gets a nice road win to move to 16-5. Solid season start for them.

Lots of people said and believed Archie’s defense takes 3 or 4 years to install. People wanted to believe. I don’t hate that but this argument was always a bit funny too me. -

People saying the fanbase sucks is always going to stir emotions. The fanbase as a whole is tremendous and everyone knows that. Basketball has been starving for 30 years and haven’t given the fans any return on investment, but still want all the perks of being a program that fills the stadium and roots them on. Its a 2 way street. For those saying the fanbase sucks, the fanbase can say the basketball team has sucked. The cure for all of this, has always been winning. Winning enough to make the fans proud. The football team has totally overachieved of course, but that’s the same fanbase. The exact same fanbase. Get a coach and basketball team that wins at near top level and unlock that fanbase mojo that is starving for a winner. -
No doubt. He’s a likeable guy imo. But, KState has spent notable money. Resource contribution seems strong. Not great for him.

Pretty sure he’s a west coast kid. He’d be a low odds addition. But he’s super impressive. One of my favorite things about our current Hoosiers is the free throw confidence I have in them except Sisley. Perry is another example of that. Great shooter from all levels. Our transfer portal guards need to have this trait. Most easily scoutable trait that translates.

Dorn has been nothing short of incredible. He’s really trying to work hard on the defensive end too which will help. He’s James Blackmon, but better??? Just a guy from Elon. Wilkerson has been a stud too. He got a little jittery at times last night but carried us through much of the OTs. Those 2 are fun to watch. Enright, to his credit, has impressed me the most (relative to my expectations) I’ve been an admitted Enright hater but this lineup has unlocked his best potential. Plus the clutch plays here and there. -

I also said this thread was too early, immediately. A lot to play out. Was really a vent session. Vibes were bad with a lot of things. I didn’t agree with everything he was saying, especially the firing yet. My main thing was salvaging the season enough to build momentum to be better next season. That’s where my worry was, because we were trending down a path where I didn’t see the fix. We kept playing the same players in the same spots and struggling to get anything going. Thank goodness for Dorn. And what he allows this team to do. -

People laugh but this is fair and honest. Had we dropped that game last night where it really looked like we would heading to OT we’d be the most bubblicious team out there. Plus the 4 game stretch of play was really bad. Going 1 PG and three shooters has given our season rejuvenated hope. I was calling for this early as we were too easily covered with 2 guys taking all the shots. And if Bailey can play 80% of his play last night it opens up way more options for us. His grip strength and toughness had not been good enough. Granted, Booker is a weak 5. And this was a great matchup for him. Anyway, Credit to our top 7 who have played good ball for 3 games.
