  1. The discussion I’d like to see had is how and through who these NIL payments get paid. For example. Hoosiers for good. Is a not for profit. So, say for a hypothetical example a donor gives HFG 5 million and tells HFG to do what they want with it. They then keep 10% (as an example) then funnel that money to athetes who can actually help the organization (by an appearance). So you get a tax write off for the extremely wealthy that benefits tha wealthy, benefits the charity, and funds the players all at the same time. My belief is that this happens at schools. Maybe even Indiana (not necessarily HFG). The dollar amounts can be viewed differently then.
  2. To answer that question, it seems like they source Rabjohns for most. It’s not a final answer though, but I think the circulating number stems from Rabjohns. 12 was a stated number, but he admitted it could flex. He didn’t know as much in the late Woodson days but he seems to be back to knowing quite a bit. I’ll be curious if those that decide such things have already decided rhat number isn’t going to give us want we want/need this year and what level of flexibility we have.
  3. I hope he becomes one of the All Time Hoosiers! So easy to root for this standup kid!
  4. While I’ll agree on the surface. It’s staggering. But it’s become the cost of doing business and when you look at the top teams/programs and look at what they are spending, it means we need to up our contributions to keep stride. Maybe we wanted 12. Maybe we find we need to do 16-18. Idk. Other programs seem to find ways. Hoping we can keep up with the Jones until some more realistic cap is figured out. A lot of these Nil payments get funneled through Not for profits and therefore can become tax loopholes for the extreme wealthy to make charitable donations. I don’t like it one bit but I strongly believe this is what is happening at many institutions. (Stuhoo or someone can correct me if I’m way off base here)
  5. Seems like a solid addition with Payne in tow already. Would take that pairing at IU.
  6. That would be fun. Seems like about 5 schools trying with Mikko. UNC strongly too.
  7. More of Woody fan and not of the Hoosier Variety.
  8. We are Out of the Harrelson sweepstakes. Ohio State, Tennessee, UNC And Tyme thinks we will get all 3 guards. Thinks we are saving money for another couple splashes
  9. I could certainly see that. Goodman is a useful idiot.
  10. Is DDV and staff gonna punchback? Guy as been taking it on social media. The burners (which are oddly Woodson friendly) have turned on him bad. Punch back DDV! YOU CAN DO THIS.
  11. Weekend is here. Enough dentistry! Hoping for an action packed weekend with some good news. Been a slow start to the day. Sherrill is/was a long shot. Love him as an option. Maybe if we are back willing to pay inordinate amounts of money we can contact Thiam or re-contact Bidunga. Burton is one to be excited about. Mustaf is Interesting. Don’t hate it. Harris is bizzare, maybe the staff can find a good scout on him somehow. Not sure how you go about that. The bigs we are associated with haven’t been too exciting. Really hope we can get creative here and figure something out.
  12. That’s rough. I like him. But man, gotta be annoying as an Iowa fan not to keep him after this year. Iowa is always gonna have a ceiling no matter how great their coach is. Thankfully.
  13. Fell asleep and missed the end of this. What a game.
  14. Hodgeson and Providence making some splashes. Dink Pate and Miles Byrd today. Not terrible for Providence. Pate has been in rumor circles for many.
  15. Seems likely. Wouldn’t that be a swift kick. That or Michigan State. ITH posting that article with that timing won’t help matters when it ends up being a Michigan school. Let’s pay bank to the Cincinnati Center.
  16. Michigan and Michigan St were the perceived leaders due to his hometown. What’s Michigan State planning to do? They don’t usually spend huge in the portal. They’d be the obvious choice otherwise.
  17. Now that’s the kind of juice we need to get started lol. Gotta make a splash, and this would be a phenomenal one in a lot of ways.
  18. Meh. Wildcard. I’ve tried to watch film. But what film? From the little I saw, I can’t make a great analysis. I’d much rather be after Khamenia. But we already chose Olsen.
  19. Maybe, maybe not. Lots of Centers out there I like. Some more. But we need to pay for what we want. But we aren’t gonna convince a player with our results, so we need to convince the identified player some other way. Money. Building a ‘super team’.
  20. You and I will never agree on this. No self imposed limitations. Michigan was in the tank 2 years ago. Now they are top of the sport two years later with the right hire and resources. Louisville is better with a corny coach. They aren’t great but they are in top 25 status with potential to do more each season. That all I really ask of Indiana to start. Other examples of programs becoming relevant with money. BYU. Etc. If our Nil is legitimately top 20, the expectations will always be there. How would we be feeling if we just had the season Iowa had and then you give McCollum 14-16 million to build his ideal roster. Problem right now is DeVries wasted the most important year 1. No he (we) has to pay for it. Past does not forecast future particularly when resources are as important as they are.
  21. It all started last season when we didnt sign a good enough class. I knew it. You have to build momentum. Prove system works. Provide value. We did none of that because we wanted to save a few million. Now the job is infinitely harder. And we will do it again. We might have more talent on paper but we won’t step up a level enough to make an impact. It’s not that hard to figure out.
  22. lol. Indiana ain’t got any Juice. And especially DeVries. Maybe should have kept Woodson on as the Closer. This was always gonna be this way unless we overpay. We aren’t willing to overpay, so we will get what we get. I’ve been ahead of this from the beginning. Could see exactly how it was going to go. When we sign another middling roster during the pay to play era, the fanbase will respond accordingly. Simple as that.
  23. Helps when you are willing to toss major bags of cash.
