Kentucky is Mid this year. Ole Miss is Mid-er. Kentucky missing the tournament was going to make me happy, but Kentucky winning and helping our SOS slightly is a benefit. Torn on Kentucky games. I guess I win either way. But if we don’t sneak in and they do easily then it’s all for naught.

My 2 biggest roster worries. 1. keeping Khobie Martin. 2. keeping Lynch? from Texas. Those would sting.

Purdue 83 Indiana 73

Had we got Conwell or Dix we wouldn’t have gotten Wilkerson. As far as Bigs. Flory had early momentum and that would have been top notch. Many of the others were meh options but Baba Miller would have been interesting on this roster. Wish we had him.

Rutgers stinks and our guys had confidence. But Dorn was always the key to free up Wilkerson/DeVries. If the 3 of them can play off each other and shoot and make a ton of three’s, that’s our slim window. Imo, 1 guard and preferably Conerway.

Love the black alternates! No Ron Harper Jr on this Buttgers team. Our better players had solid games. Rutgers has no good size to hit us where it hurts. As I’ve pleaded earlier, 1 of Enright and Conerway on the floor at a time. Play, Dorn, DeVries, Wilkerson as many minutes as they can handle. Get DeVries to stop taking the stupid shots. Purdue next, can we impede their trees whatsoever?

How do I get someone to hire me to be an asset in the transfer portal? I want accountability and can build a tournament team with 10-12 million. Moves were made where the level didn’t match time and time again with This off season. I couldn’t believe it was happening in real time.

We are gonna miss Nowakowski quite a bit. TE is an interesting spot. I’m rooting hard for Schott, but man, not sure that is fair to the kid for him to live up to Nowakowski. So much youth at TE. Feel good about most other spots. Backup QB might be a worry too. LB?

Absolutely nailed it. Woodson cared way too much about those outlier fans and thus allowed it to enter the locker room through his players and staff. Absolute worst thing to do. Some of those people are awful. But why would you waste your time with that nonsense. The majority of the fanbase just reacts to results and on court efforts. The solution is easy to find. I genuinely think a top 25 level team that makes the tournament a HIGH percentage of the time will be enough for this fanbase now. Our “standards” as a fanbase are not anywhere close to where they’ve been. Despite all this, we still can’t reach these standards with a budget that indicates we should.

Coming from a bunch of players and coaches who haven’t won anything. And have underperformed projected metrics for about 9 straight years. Have given us not 1 enjoyable year as fans. It’s hard on them and it’s hard on us. Nobody wants to lose. Nobody wants to be the reason to lose. Blame someone else. Woodson was the master of turning against the fans. And his players are going to follow suit because you know it’s all they talked about behind the scenes. If we get an over performing team one of these days our fanbase will again be the best ever. But the effort, attitude, and results hasn’t been there for decades. Getva coach who is confident and focused on the right things. Get players who are confident, capable, and focused on the right things and become a respectable program again.

Never ever would have predicted this falloff a few years ago. From the top to the doormat in 2 years.

I resent this remark. lol. I also was concerned about Enright being a regular player. And the North Florida kids never having won a thing. Big depth. Didn’t like Alexis as a primary guy either. Our athleticism. I had this roster pegged. I like(d) Wilkerson and Conerway, and thought Tucker would be better. I thought Bailey would be interesting if he could have been Cody Zeller-lite. Push in transition and use his speed to beat opposing 4/5s in transition. I knew he would be a huge concern defensively, but I thought he’d be better offensively and we’d use him more creatively. Didn’t know he’d have the weakest grip strength of any basketball player I’ve ever watched.

I think they were more worried about parting with Woodson and not as concerned about building the future. I also think the NIL transfer portal shocked them. I hear we put 10 million into the team. I think they expected that to put themselves in a more advantageous position than it did. With Kentucky at 22 and a few other schools going high, we goofed up too, by paying 13 when we should have focused primarily on 8. And gone heavier in spots 1-5 than we did. This is all stuff I’ve been talking about all offseason. Not sure we can or want to do more with football taking the lions share now. Getting a “superstar” would help fan engagement though. We had one with TJD. Homegrown. As always it boils down to winning basketball games. No matter how you do it. Fans will flock.

DeVries just seems like a dude. Will work with what he has. Nonchalant type guy. But Seriously, Dolson and DeVries need to have a lengthy meeting and come up with a plan and finances to resurrect a program on life support. They HAVE to have a tournament quality team next year. Should have happened this year, but they all dropped the ball for X number of reasons. My most diehard basketball friends don’t even talk basketball anymore. They do talk football though. lol. Anyway, I’m nervous for DeVries and me as an IUBB fan because I used to have hope. Now that’s mostly gone.

Already talking buyouts. lol. I will never blame our fanbase though. This is a niche discussion, but we need to inject some confidence and some swagger into the hoops program some way. I genuinely don’t see a 1 year turnaround happening. Predicting a roster that will win isn’t the hard part. Convincing them to play for DeVries and Indiana just might be.
