  1. DeVries never invigorated the fanbase in the first place with this roster build. We were always a fringe tourney team at best with this roster. Part of me wonders if Dolson wanted him to try the “Cignetti” approach and get low major kids about the right things. Because that’s what he built. But 1, he isn’t Cignetti. And 2, you’ve gotta be an incredible scout and coach to make that work. I don’t think he’s either. Besides being a likeable basketball lifer he has no identity.
  2. Eye test didn’t fail me this year either. Was hoping the 3s would fall forever. That was alway on only hope.
  3. Blown out at home by a fellow first year coach who we lap in resources. Disgusting
  4. Yeah, no chance. He’s putting his resume out there one game at a time. Who is signing up to be a bottom half B1G team?
  5. In some ways I love it but it’s also incredibly sad. I just want to watch a tournament quality team that will play a game in March Madness where I believe we might win a game or 2. That’s all.
  6. I’m at the point of the season where I fast forward games because it’s an awful product. Indiana being out of tourney contention in the middle of January isn’t what you want when you hire a new coach.
  7. Postseason hope ends today. What an awful start to the DeVries era. Woof.
  8. For a wreckless as he is on offense gunning shots, he gives the team confidence and tries his best to do the little things. Plus other teams have been guarding him as 1A scoring option opening things up.
  9. The last game where there was a glimmer of hope of being good. The Marquette game. Kinda figures.
  10. Man, no kidding. Like printing money
  11. Yuck. A 20 point home loss to Washington. We are down bad.
  12. Exactly. People act like we are in a better spot. Not by much. Dorn and Sisley as potential starters. Maybe neither should start yet. Could easily argue we need 5 starters from the portal to be competing at the top. Crazy. And who wants to commit to Indiana right now unless we overpay. I mean, he absolutely has his work cut out for him. I just don’t see a path tbh. The path imo is overseas pros and find a great scout who can identify. That’s the only path I see working.
  13. This is fun. Cignetti trying to build a championship level team just like he implied. AIM for the moon and fall short, you still have a good season. Love it.
  14. Wow. Cue the Raiola transfer right?
  15. Excited to see the reload. Love me some IU soccer!
  16. Frager went 7-11 from 3 last night. As did Sandfort (7-11) for Nebraska. Lawrence had an off night. 2 thoughts, when was the last time Indiana had a recruit pop like Frager? Or Wagler? Or a host of other ones. Nebraska is what Indiana thought it built this season. Nebraska doesn’t scare anyone on paper, but they have shooting. DeVries being far worse than anticipated, and our frontcourt being unplayable are the 2 biggest reasons for our downfall. One was predictable, one was less.
  17. I liked him but I gotta admit he’s having a better season than I anticipated. Thought he might have a freshman struggle.
  18. Meh. Before football was #1 priority, maybe. Now we are spread thin. After giving Cignetti 8 million in raises and staff 3-4 million in raises, and a dedication to NIL for football. Our roster cost us more than Vanderbilt. Than Virginia. Than X,Y,Z. I want top 10 Nil for sports because the job becomes much easier. Truth is, we had top 25 Nil this season probably 15-25 and misspent. Coach has to accept that. Plus he had his son who shouldn’t even really need a large Nil so he should be on a discount. The pieces don’t match the cost. And that’s entirely on the coach. ps- I realize now I’m just babbling. Much of this doesn’t pertain to your post. Excuse me. I guess my point is, we alotted what we were comfortable with. And it didn’t work. Gross misjudgment on all accounts.
  19. I can assure you it doesn’t. The past 2 football seasons have been glorious fun. But I’ve always had a good eye for things. The board attacks me incessantly for posting what has proven to be true all along. I celebrate the wins. Believe me. Year 1 DeVries was critical, I put a lot of stock into getting off on the right foot and so should have he. His job has become much harder for him by not building a good enough team in year 1. Minimal expectation are the tournament. But you don’t aim for minimal expectations and that is this teams ceiling. Always was. Losing formula from jumpstreet. Frustrating to know it, see it and not be able to do anything about besides post to my fellow fans.
  20. Exactly. I’m not ready to fire him, but a good coach comes in with a plan. And executes it. He was Willy Nilly about everything and ulitimately built a mid roster. Lost some faith in him through the offseason. I think the Money ran out, but he failed so hard in the offseason, it’s hard for me to trust him. And he’s not winning me back now. We don’t play smart enough or hard enough to compensate for deficiencies that he created in the first place.
  21. None of this should surprise anyone. Metrics watchers will always hang on to hope. But if you know ball, you knew this long ago.
