Honestly, I'm not convinced that the effort has been missing the entire time. I think we have a team that collectively has a bad basketball IQ and should not be playing in free offenses, that require them to make their own in game adjustments and playing complex, hybrid defenses. We got away with this stuff in 2011-2013 for two reasons. We had a high collective IQ and we were littered with pros. This is what I see anyways.

Hoodie, sweatpants, an IU ornament.

No one should be surprised. I think he will be a good back in the NFL.

This is what confuses me the most. I could never put my family through consecutive seasons of what they are bound to endure. Either they are incredibly strong people or maybe some of the rumors of Crean's haughtiness are true.

The buyout is not as significant as it seems on the surface. The likelihood that Crean actually is fired, and paid all of the buyout, isn't very likely. http://threeriverslaw.com/2015/03/how-to-read-a-contract-or-the-buyout-of-tom-crean/

Pinstripe Bowl Post-Game Thread
HoosierTrav replied to HoosierReb01's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
If Kevin Wilson ever has himself a deep and talented defense, he's going to contend with the elite. His offenses are legit. -
Good point. Many of us (myself included) seem dig for reasons as to why we will somehow be contenders the following season. Fools gold. At this point we have a significant amount of anecdotal evidence to help us form realistic expectations.

Yogi, is the most consistent player we've had, so I cant imagine this being addition by subtraction in his case. His leadership is in question but the ultimate leader of the program has major questions about his leadership as well. If you ask me, it's just a trickle down effect. I, personally, will miss Yogi when he is gone. I hate it but I agree with you on Troy and JB. Watching them play is like riding a roller coaster. Yes they provide us with spectacular play at times but the consistently inconsistent play has kept us out of the W column on many occasions. I cant wait to watch Rob Johnson take on an expanded role next year. He's ready and capable of leading the team IMO. More importantly, I'm ready to see what change on the sideline can do for us.

We play them in Bloomington this season, I believe.

If we hire a competent coach, I can't envision a scenario that takes us 3-5 years to rebuild into a contender. It took Crean 3 bad seasons to rebuild from sanctions, reduced schollies, and complete roster turnover. A big name coach will be coming into a FAR better situation no matter when Crean leaves, unless he leaves us with sanctions, which are highly unlikely. I would actually go as far as saying that if Crean is gone at seasons end an impact coach is quickly hired, we could have a turnaround the next season. It's not too uncommon for big time new hires to make moves late in the recruiting season, if they are given a big enough window to make their case.
-
Agreed. I've heard some people say that no matter who we bring in, we will be looking at a 3-5 year rebuild. That's a joke. We will have a coachable & competent core to build around. We could also bring in some unexpected recruits.

Sadly he's spot on. Brey must be smoking meth.

I agree. I see him making the eventual move back to the college game but not after 1 season.

"Say Stevens does decide to return to college basketball next summer.. But it is not to IU." Absolute.....Global.....Meltdown

Just received the same exact one. Verbatim. I feel bad for the kid who has to reply to all of these emails.

ROLL CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who's going to NYC?

Sorry to hear about that. Hopefully your wife makes a speedy recovery. -
We have a lot of work to do to get BS to IU. 1. Make Head Coaching Position available in the CLEANEST way possible. (I have a hard time believing that Brad and his family wouldn't consider the way Crean is treated during his exit when pondering being put in the same shoes.) 2. Get a feel for how to respectfully approach Stevens and his family. (When is he willing to lend his undivided attention to our pitch?) 3. Recruit his family as hard or harder than we recruit him. 4. Uncover every single objection they may have in reference to leaving Boston for Bloomington. (This is the most critical once meet is secured IMO.) 5. Overcome every single objection that is within our capabilities. (We can offer job security, significant increase in take home pay, less travel (according to his wife). If he has an unquenchable thirst to win at the NBA level and feels he has unfinished business, then there is absolutely nothing we can do to overcome that.) 6. Highlight the positives of bringing him to Indiana. (How many opportunities does one get to fulfill their childhood dreams? Resources are plentiful. Recruiting territory is fertile and familiar. Job isn't going anywhere. Build men out of boys. Close to family. Would instantly become a hero in his home state (Imagine that first Hoosier Hysteria!!.) Raising a banner in AH after 30 years of pain and suffering would have much further reaching effects than making an Eastern Conference/NBA Finals for the 54646460546046464th time in the C's history. Indiana Basketball needs his services far more desperately than the Celtics will ever need a coach.) 7. Close the damn deal. * Another, more strategic move would be to hire Barry Collier as AD, if Fred Glass were to leave his post. (I'm smoking crack right now.)

Watching at home on the couch. Beer if we are playing well and scotch whiskey if things go south. I'm anticipating drinking quite a few brews but we'll see. -
IU All-Star Line Up (Only During Your Time)
HoosierTrav replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Last time I heard from him was the day before the fiasco in LA. He called a mutual friend of ours while I was at his home in San Diego. Said he wanted to come down to SD to get away from his children's mother..... Never showed and we heard the news shortly after. He's a good guy surrounded by demons. Could never shake them. Especially when he started having financial success. -
. I didn't realize that. A point could be made that Boston is playing without any single player the caliber of Curry, Green, Bogut, and Igoudala.

IU All-Star Line Up (Only During Your Time)

Good post kid! If you don't mind me asking, who is your father? Side note: I was a teammate and close friend to James Hardy in high school. I didn't expect to see his name.
