  1. Stevens has his team up 84-83 on the Warriors with 9:08 left. That defense is a thing of beauty. ***I had no idea where to put this***
  2. No thanks!
  3.   These last two basketball seasons have really brought my worst self out. Last night I didn't watch, listen, check tweets, or care at all. I just spent time reading and watching Winnie the Pooh with my kids. I have to say....That was one of the most relaxing winter nights I've had in a long time. I've said it before, but I've been beaten into submission with Indiana Basketball. I'll root them on but I'm not sure my passion will ever reach the levels it was prior to now. Just a feeling of apathy and indifference.   This may be sacrilegious but I watched Purdue play the other night and they were really fun to watch. There are not 10 team in America better than them. They can win it all.
  4. The raise would actually be more substantial considering he would be living in an area that is 3-4 x cheaper to live. That is something that his family took into consideration when taking the Celtics job. No reason to believe that it wouldn't be took into consideration if an offer were on the table.
  5. Good point. If there is indeed a culture problem then making a change would have little effect.
  6. I'd take Pat Summit and Geno Auriemma over 99% of the coaching candidates in Mens BBall. They can flat out coach. They'd just have bigger, stronger, and faster horses.
  7. Thanks for obliging, sir.
  8. I think this is the case for a large majority of the fans who are looking to make statements. It's just one of the ways fans show their distaste for the program and the coach. They boo (which I'm not on board with) or they stop buying tickets.
  9. Are you able to post a link? I'd love to hear it.
  10. I'd appreciate it more if it went into detail about how Creans defensive approach made sense. I agree that I was way off on Yogi though. I thought for sure he was one of those once in a decade type point guard leaders and he's not. He doesn't command anything on the court.  Our most vocal leader is a freshman and thats sad.
  11.   Look man. For you to be able to incite someone into an argument with passive aggressive shots, when I said nothing over the line towards you or anyone else, then come up with this broad generalization of me (thats WAYYYY off base) then I think I'll find another place to go. If the mods cant be moderated themselves then this may not be the place for me. You say you've made your peace with me several times but for the life of me I cannot rememebr on instant, outside of this one, where you and I have had uncivilized debates. For you to also lump me in with the group of folks who are turning people away from this site due to negativity is unfair. I do my best to keep my pessimism within reason and I definitely try to not take shots at people, especially if they havent fired first. The biggest reason Indiana basketball forums, like Inside the hall, lose members isn't bc of the negativity of the posters (Sure there are some that cite these reasons) the MAIN reason they've lost members is due to the people running the site being held to a different set of standards and forcing their weight around. I bet you'd find a few people on BTB that are here due to  that sole reason. I apologize for firing back at you after I felt you passive aggressively took a shot at me. It just pissed me off even more bc I realized you were a Mod.
  12. When the numerous run ins with the law occurred you were absolutely one of the ones on here defending Crean. I'm not arguing with that defense, after all, Crean cant babysit everyone. My beef is that you are hypocritical in acting as though we are above hiring Bill Self, due to academic violations that his schools football team committed. The only issue his basketball program had was that a booster had given 2 players a total of $5000 in impermissible benefits. If you create a line in the sand that on one side says Bill Self should have to babysit boosters and the actions of his schools football coach, while at the same time having made arguments in the past that Crean shouldn't have to babysit his players, then you are being really hypocritical. And you got the response outta me bc of your weak ass passive aggressive statement. "Well I guess I can take a hike." I agreed with you and Hova's position that you cant have coaches with academic fraud on their resume. Its just bs that you'd even think to hold Self accountable for those allegations.   The only weak shit I see on here is you coming into threads created for pissing and moaning about the coach, and crying foul to the people doing so.
  13.   I dont see him being fired mid season either. I do think that he has lost his team, at this point, and a change mid-season isn't going to make this season get any worse than it has already proven itself to be. I personally see it as the most reasonable thing to do at this point. Hear me out.   I'm sure making a change now wouldn't be something that the players would jump for joy over, but if we were to keep the remainder of the staff on board, I think this softens the blow. We are already in dire straights. How much worse can it honestly get?   On the flip side: - The fanbase will have experienced some form of relief and will likely pull the reigns back some on their lynch mob mentality. - There will be more butts in seats with Crean gone than there will be with him roaming the sidelines. - The team may experience a wake up call of some sorts - The interim coach can implement his system and it may be far more suitable for our personel than the one we are currently trying to implement. - The job opening is open for longer, opening the door for discussions with other potential candidates, much earlier than would be if we wait until July. July is far too late for a coach to come in and pick up recruiting. - Crean and his family are no longer subjected to what they are likely to be subjected to for the remainder of the season.
  14. Coming from someone who so staunchly supported a coach who's players have had numerous run ins with the law, and until just recently pulled support. I would have guessed you'd have been able to discern who was truly at fault for the issues Self has had in the past. You know... Not being directly implicated in academic fraud considering that it was a blanket violation bestowed on the program Bc of the football teams indiscretions. The basketball team was punished by reducing one scholly Bc some booster paid JR. Giddens and some no name $5000 in impermissible benefits. How can you say in one instance that Tom Crean isn't at fault for his players making bad decisions, yet Bill Self is some pariah and at fault for the indiscretions of programs and boosters he had no direct link to? Bill Self would be a phenomenal hire.
  15. And yes I agree that this will cause some to be uneasy, but let's be honest; no matter who we bring in, someone will find a reason to bitch.
  16. I'm not giving up hope until another coach is announced.
  17. Of course they are but let's not sit here and crucify the guy over past mistakes. Especially mistakes that haven't resulted in vacated accomplishments. He seems to be in good standing with the NCAA for over a decade now. We aren't fresh off of a post Sampson debacle anymore. If we have a chance to take guys like Bill Self and we pass, then we'd deserve a lifetime of mediocrity. Can't think of one coach that's been squeaky clean. Even Coach K has dirt.
  18. So sad but true. I have to believe that the money is invested enough to want a contender. I have a hard time believing CSS, Ken Nunn, Cook, Mark Cuban, and others are willing to pour millions of dollars into a program that is losing and not filling the newly renovated Assembly Hall. The fan base has already proven, in the past, that they won't spend their money on a losing cause, and will help force the hand of the leadership. This will be the case here. Fans won't support and the money (revenue) will be impacted negatively. This situation is unique in its own right, IMO. I believe the fan base has reached a breaking point unlike the past circumstances (Davis & Sampson). Those instances we clamored for change and change alone. We acquiesced. This time the fan base is going away and staying away until the right hire is made. No more mistakes. No more risky hires, either ethically or performance based. I cannot remember the entire fanbase ever being so unanimous in their desire for one specific coach, (outside of Knight) like they are with Brad Stevens. It's almost as if, we are saying, in a way, that we aren't letting the leadership make the decisions anymore. The people are speaking and it's our way or we are gone. I really feel that way. Indiana basketball went through its darkest days post Sampson but now we are teetering on losing a large portion of longtime fans for good. I talk to some old timers that have been IU die hards for their entire lives and they are ready to pack it in. They are so sick and tired of watching people destroy our image as a power basketball program. It's so sad seeing how defeated they sound. We care so much about this program. We pour our hearts, souls, and dollars into supporting it. It hurts to watch something so massively important be dismantled by the few who are charged with leading it to success. I'm a sad fan right now. I'm embarrassed to be an Indiana fan. I feel shame wearing my gear out into public right now. Maybe that makes me less of a fan? I don't know. If it isn't fixed and fixed quick, I'm going to be focusing my passion elsewhere. Perhaps I've been the fool the whole time for being the one exerting far too much energy into something as silly as being a college basketball fan.
  19. So true. I remember arguing with an extreme Lebron hater like 5 years ago. They claimed he wasn't the best in the league and that Rose was. I argued that the best player in the league often ends up in the NBA finals most seasons. The league is a players league and the best of the best continually shine. How many straight finals has Lebron been in?...... As long as he's healthy the eastern conference is his. Brad won't change that unless he gets a top 3 talent and a supporting cast to support him. Brad can, on the other hand, come to a place like Indiana and cement a far greater legacy without having to recruit the very best players. He can actually have a say in how high his ceiling can be. The college game is a coaches game and I'm not sure there are many willing to argue against that. The biggest obstacle in getting him to Bloomington is convincing his family (wife) that this is the best place for him. The best way to do that is to give him an enormous contract that is guaranteed for a longer than usual time period (10 years) We have to push all of our chips in the middle of the table here. We cannot afford any mistakes on this one.
  20. You can add the D to his name. His teams play defense
  21. I've been lost forever. Even if he were to miraculously make a final four this season, he has not given any proof that he can sustain even a small amount of success at a program where he has every resource at his disposal. The fact that numerous coaches are doing much more with far less, is all I need to see. Mid major Xavier University has experienced more sustained success than Indiana in the last decade. That's insane to me.
  22. The University can't appease everyone in the fan base unless they miraculously convince Brad a Stevens to take the job. If fans are upset with Bill Self, they can take a hike. Either way, it's never happening. Kansas is a stable blueblood, offering everything, if not more than what we offer.
  23. Some claiming to be close to the program have said before that he is insufferably controlling. If that's the case, it's completely feasible to get different schemes from the assistants.
  24. Embiid was out during the tournament with a foot injury. Dude has 17 million straight conference titles, made multiple final fours , won a national title, and finished runner up. Not to mention his litter in Champaign was coached by an airhead to a runner up finish. Not sure what expectations you have, but I'd do God awful things to attain those results.
