Bracketology and Team Resumes
NashvilleHoosier replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I didn’t realize all the impact on our resume tonight. Our game of course or nothing else may matter. But ND with a tough road game and St. John’s w/ Xavier at home. I keep repeating this but man I cannot wait for times where we aren’t looking around at what everyone else is doing. -
Goodman is the biggest tool in the toolbox, that we can agree on. And some of the points in the podcast might be old news, but I'd argue that what's more annoying that rehashing old news/beliefs is continuing to watch this program languish in mediocrity when it shouldn't be. And until it's not, asking what's wrong, how do we fix it, and are the right people in place to do it is far less a narrative than it is a continued harsh reality.
-
Ehhh....the whole "fit your narrative" thing gets a bit overused on this board in my opinion (which I suppose is a microcosm of the world we live in today), but hey, you disagree with him. I didn't read the entire thread in detail, but he/she is passing along thoughts from a podcast they heard relevant to IU hoops. Beard was their coach of choice. But it's a legitimate question to wonder where the problem lies in this program, what needs to happen to fix it, and are the right people in place to do it. Hard for me to see any narrative being pushed here.
-
Beard was definitely high on my list but not reaching out to him was probably the smartest move we made in the coaching search. Nothing to do with his coaching, but knowing that Texas job was going to be open in the near future, it was a waste of our time to even reach out. Had we reached out right away and took this job, now knowing that the Texas job opened up sooner than expected, he would have embarrassed us more than we ever could have imagine by turning around and taking the Texas job a week later. I can't even imagine the what it would have been like to make a huge splash of a hire like that only for him to leave a week later for Texas.

Not exactly sure how on the bubble Florida is but Vandy just absolutely laid a massive egg in the last 2 minutes to hand FL what is at worst a quad 2 road win but could end up being a quad 1 win. -
In my opinion there is no sport that is less self-aware than baseball. Not sure who is most to blame during the current lockout b/c I honestly don't care, but baseball just insists on getting in its own way. They could have owned the summer of 2020 while everyone was home during the worst of COVID lockdowns....could have played day game after day game where young kids could watch with their parents......ah, whatever, that's done and gone. Anyway, for a sport that needs exactly zero things to get in its way, it sure finds plenty of things to get in the way.

2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection
NashvilleHoosier replied to Five Prime's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
None of these would surprise me, but it would mean that Jordan G. is our entire returning front line. I think this opens up 3 spots we could fill from the portal? I suppose we'd have a good selling point...big minutes up for grabs! -
Rob's quote makes it hard not to read into these things. I think it was something to the effect of him leaving the COVID year on the table so he's not participating in senior night ceremonies. Race and Parker ARE participating....yet they also haven't decided about their COVID year? Doesn't make sense for all of them to be undecided but for only some of them to participate in senior night stuff.

Does anyone know the "home bar" for IU will be? Do they still do that? -
21-22 Men’s IUBB Schedule
NashvilleHoosier replied to OldBuddy67's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm sure there are other scenarios where we avoid that game but they're probably even less likely. With PSU losing last night it seems almost impossible that we would drop to the #10 spot, even if we lost out. And man we have just absolutely shot ourselves in the foot in regards to moving up. All 3 of Michigan, MSU and Iowa own the tiebreaker against us if we were to tie record-wise, so we'd have to jump one of them entirely to move ahead of them in the standings. Considering MSU and Iowa already have 10 wins, one of them would have to lose out and we'd have to win at Purdue for that to happen. In other words, we aren't jumping MSU and Iowa. If we end up tied w/ Rutgers, we'll have the tiebreaker against them, but that means they have to lose to PSU at home or we have to win at Purdue. So let's hope PSU is game for that. And if we really want to talk about how much we've shot ourselves in the foot, those back to back games we couldn't close out against Wisky and OSU are the difference between us playing in the 8/9 game vs. being in the drivers seat in a double bye spot at #4. (not to mention the difference between us living and dying on the bubble vs. us being a lock #6 or #7 seed in the dance?) I give all of this info about a 73% accuracy rating and should be verified by someone smarter than me. -
21-22 Men’s IUBB Schedule
NashvilleHoosier replied to OldBuddy67's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This tool tells me that all that needs to happen is for Michigan to lose out, we beat Rutgers and then they also lose to Penn St. at home and boom, we can jump to the 7 seed and I don't have to get up at 4am my time next Thursday and drive to Indy to make the 10:30am CST game. Simple as that! -

The same day we gain a quad 1 win we likely lose a quad 2 win as St. John’s just refuses to turn the corner this season. Yet we can gain a quad 2 win right back as we speak. So much resume movement in one day. -
I think the last 4 in are always two #12 seeds and two #11 seeds. As for why IU isn’t in his field? Purdue guy.

Nice little Sunday…ND is officially a quad 1 win. For now. -
Lol…odds were +7612 on this. And WV had a good look at the FT line with about 3 or 4 seconds left to win. I hate everything.

I'm not near as high on TJD as I used to be for several reasons but it's hard for me to believe we'll be better without him. I'll agree that the offense has looked better at times this season when he is on the bench. I don't see that as an indicator that we'll be better without him, but more so that when he's in there, our offense just relies far too heavily on him to make something happen. I think about it more as....man, TJD would be much better with good guard play. When we get good to great XJ, that takes so much pressure off of TJD. And when XJ is on, you can see he and TJD have pretty solid chemistry. So looking ahead to next year, I don't know much about Hood-Schifino other than him being ranked high. But I can't help but think maybe TJD could be better next year with a much more consistent, high level PG running the show (assuming Hood-Schifino is that).

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff

Well you’ll get that from me all day. I was wrong about Archie. I’ll maintain that I had my reasons to support him other than thinking he was the right guy, but all that isn’t worth rehashing. But it sure feels like a “neh-neh-na-boo-boo you were wrong” after a while.
