On the plus side....he's 62 :-). If he takes another job, he probably isn't going anywhere else after that. Saban is 72. If we could get a coach that could build this program and have continuity for 10 years or more (or, hell, even just 8 years), sign me up. A young guy like Candle could be our James Franklin, which would be awesome for 3 years then he bolts elsewhere.

I have a really good friend who is a Tech grad, and huge fan. He's not connected in any way, just a fan like many of us, participates on their message boards, etc. He hated the Fuente hire from day 1 and remained anti-Fuente throughout. Said a lot of the fanbase felt that way. But it wasn't because of his coaching abilities so much as he just thought the he and Va Tech were a terrible fit, and the longer he was there the more apparent that was. Not exactly sure how, so this is probably not helpful. I don't know how I'd feel about Fuente being the coach at IU. But I wouldn't hold his Va Tech departure against him.

That happened in 2002. He's coached a little over 3 seasons total in the last 15 years. None in college. His last taste of college football appears to have come 34 years ago, so it's safe to say he's never recruited. There have been hundreds of much bigger time college football openings while he's been unemployed and nobody has hired him? He's 60 and would be trying to jumpstart his coaching career at arguably the worst power 5 program in college football history. Is that really a fit for Indiana football? None of this even touches on his incredibly problematic history.

I’m not sure what would make the IU job appealing to him, but in terms of the 2-10 in his 6th season, he preceded that with 3 straight bowl games including 2 bowl wins. For a program like IU, if we are going to have some continuity at the head coach position, we should reasonably expect a 2-10 season sprinkled in amongst some mid level bowl games. In fact, sign me up!

I agree. And reality is our program would deal with this for the next 20 years if we string together good hires. A few years of success here is just a stepping stone elsewhere. I’d love to have that problem. It makes a bit older candidate like Fritz more appealing. Maybe he wants a P5 job as his last stop? Longer term is the challenge of stringing together great hires. Look at Vandy. They got that exact scenario with Franklin. Then back to being Vandy ever since.

So many plays in the TA era like that where you can only describe it as cowardly. He may not call the plays but he set the tone for that at very least.

This is why I find myself pulling for Sparty on days like today. We are not a tournament team. If that is going to change I think we are going to need every metric possible to work in our favor. I don’t see us getting a quality OOC win so we are going to need quality win opportunities in conference if we put things together.

Fun fact: The guy (or at least one of the ppl) doing camera work lives in my neighborhood here in Nashville. He was with the team for the NCAA tourney last year. He does a lot of cool stuff across college sports but I’m pretty sure he’s an IU guy. I dont think we can imbed instagram stuff but here’s my attempt: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Czzmb8DuzH8/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

You’re welcome. He went back in and immediately got to the line right after I posted that.

You're not sweating that missed free throw early in the first half are you? Nah, I totally would not be sweating that missed free throw early in the first half.

Ok what happened....this has ballooned to -15 in 2 hours. Edit: nevermind, I see it.

It's up to -10.5 and 152. In order to guarantee a 82-71 IU victory, I'm going to go ahead and throw down the WSU +10.5 / under parlay.
