  1. Watched the game with a Kansas fan. When talking NET rankings, quad system….he was aware of most of it, but i had to explain to many details. Like that a quad 1 win today may not stay a quad 1 win as the season plays out. He watches plenty of hoops but just never has to worry about knowing what any of that means. Lol…fun conversation as we lose by 20.
  2. Just to get stupidly ahead of my pessimistic self….Cig, at 62, Said he wants to coach for 13 more years (I think?). He previously thought he’d retire at JMU, but we came back with the 2nd offer he couldn’t refuse. I’m starting to get scared that he does so well in year 1 and has recruiting in roads like this that he’ll have to consider an offer 2x what we are paying him when he’s 63 and still wants to coach for 12 more years. It’d be a very IU football thing to happen.
  3. Oh c’mon. So there are 4 coaches that are available now that can save us or we are done? The overwhelming majority of coaching candidates that get mentioned on this board will still be coaching at their same job next season, so they’ll be just as “available”. Nobody even knew who Dusty May was until last season. There will always be hot new names come up. What if Michael Lewis has a breakthrough season next year? I’m 100% okay with us making a change this offseason. But this is quite an overreaction of a take.
  4. lol…so that would also make our Q2 home win against them a Q3 win as well?
  5. Peep the timing of my text to my buddy, hours before tip off. Forgot to add, all while the current favorite to win the title is Purdue. Great day to be a Hoosier!!
  6. No, you haven’t. You have not seen anyone say the words “we will need to give Woodson 4 years to get it rolling”. And even if you did, shame on you for being the guy who sees something posted “on twitter or another board” one time and falls for it, can’t see beyond it being an opinion that the overwhelming majority of the fanbase doesn’t share, and does the “a lot of people are saying…” nonsense.
  7. I’m sure this is supposed to be funny, but surely we all know there isn’t a single chance that this is how those conversations would go.
  8. Regardless of the outcome or decision made, I only hope that not a single ounce of the most minuscule thread of consideration is given to what fans on twitter are saying.
  9. I did. I don't know what constitutes a flagrant, but I'm surprised that wasn't looked at. That pull of the jersey had at least something to do with him landing at the angle he did.
  10. The whole thing really stinks.
  11. Gave them 2 free points to start the 2nd half b/c of a dumb play, then missed these 2 incredibly clutch time FTs. Thats a 4 pt swing that is unforgivable.
  12. I did not need to know about this. That '87 gym bag slaps (do the kids still say that?)
  13. Regardless of who our apparel contract is with, there is no reason to buy anything with that brand on it. Only IU gear I own across the board is from: https://www.homefieldapparel.com/collections/indiana-university-iu-hoosiers-store with the exception of one shirt from this brand: https://www.originalretrobrand.com/collections/indiana-hoosiers If I lived in or near Bloomington, I'd give the HoosierA1vintage kid my business as well.
  14. I find this to be a very acceptable exception to the rule.
  15. And 40+ of the 50+ will combine it with a poorly fitting jersey. It could serve as a haunted house, really.
  16. I dropped that bomb 2 minutes before going into a meeting. Glad to see I still have access :-).
  17. My related hot take on this is the candy striped pants. If you are anyone other than a current player on the team on gameday, you look dumb wearing the pants.
  18. I'm not comparing the two coaches. Just their general approach to NIL and players making it priority #1. Hurley's been pretty vocal about it. Whether he came off of that approach for Spencer? Maybe, I don't know. I agree there probably aren't many similarities between the two coaches. I was only responding to the general sentiment that we need to be going after players that have NIL requirements up front, etc, and giving a pretty real example to counter that.
  19. I'm sure there are plenty of coaches who make promises regarding NIL and playing time, and I'm sure it works. But outside of Woody, I can quickly think of one coach who has been on record saying something to the effect of if NIL is a player's top priority, the conversation ends there. Dan Hurley. He's not messing around with players who have NIL demands, he wants players who want to be there playing at UConn, and the NIL stuff will work itself out. I'd say he's doing well with his philosophy. Only pointing out here that there is a very relevant and successful example of Woody's general philosophy in this area working out quite well.
  20. Real Madrid, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Juventus. Adidas can afford to lose their 2nd biggest US based college bball school and not bat an eye, replace us or not. At this point in IU hoops history, we are probably luckier to be Adidas’ #2 than they are to have us as their #2. Not saying our brand isn’t valuable in college hoops terms. But in the grand scheme of things (Adidas paid just one of those clubs $1.2 billion for their contract) losing your 2nd biggest college hoops contract for a company like that is like IU hoops losing its finest ball boy.
  21. I’ve always said our iconic look is the pants. Not the unis. Every blue blood basketball team has modified their unis over the years. Kansas has some really solid alternates, even under adidas. Holding on to the classic look with no names is meaningless. And has, obviously, nothing to do with success and a winning tradition. Our look and what we are known for is the pants. Keep the pants. Let’s update the unis.
  22. It’s a fair concern as he’s only a couple years younger than Woody. But as USPS has pointed out he’s spent his entire career in the college game as opposed to taking his first college gig. And Woody seems 10 years older than he actually is. Pearl seems 10 years younger. 8-10 years of Bruce Pearl could be a helluva ride.
  23. 8:45pm EST tip off and the game thread died off by 11:45pm EST. I think we’ve made the turn.
  24. I’m guessing we won’t take the opportunity to play small…
