  1. Wow that is incredible Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  2. I know it seemed like a lot but did we really offer that many kids/year under Crean? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  3. This and it adds to his credibility. When we hired Archie many of us were glad we hired a former player because we think he can relate better to kids than a coach like Crean who did not play. Then when you add that he made the NBA it adds credibility. Then you add that he was an all star player, lottery pick etc and kids will take notice. Eventually he will be measured by his coaching but for now this is an edge Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  4. See you hit on the point. If we miss on guys it does matter because the staff thought they would fit and invested time with them that they could not invest otherwise. So for those who say it is no big deal to miss on these guys is crazy to me. Yes we got Brunk and he fits s big need but we have missed on a lot of first and second choices recently. We were in a great spot early in the year. Winning and we got a 5* commit and we were in a good spot with another. Then we lose a ton of games and now it seems we are struggling to get recruits. Sure we want guys that fit but that is the coaches job to find them and bring them in. They have recently struggled to do just that. It is fine to be pro IU or even pro Archie and still question our results. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  5. True but when we drive recruits around campus and town do we choose the best areas or the worst? When Archie talks about his playing experience does he focus on what he did not do or what he did accomplish. When a kid hears about Penny they find out he was good enough to have been to the NBA finals and have commercials with little penny character developed as well. There are enough reasons to want to learn from a former NBA star, AAU coach and likable guy. I have been to Memphis and found the area i visited to be great. 6. Wow. Why would the FBI think coaches need to be bribed? It is no wonder why they have not found the bigger schools doing anything wrong. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  7. Is there an easy way to see how different areas at IU have been ranked over the last decade? Individually I can look to some extent but it would be good to see an overall view. For example, when I graduated in 95 our Accounting department/degree ranked #2 nationally and according to USNews we are #6 now. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  8. If the coaches watch, meet and the offer a kid it is their job on the line so I am fine with it. They have to judge talent and character fits. They have to manage roster and get wins I am more concerned when we target kids and miss them and have to go to 2nd, 3rd and 4th options. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  9. What have you seen/heard that suggests he abhors sports? I know Myles Brand made comments about not wanting sports to be bigger than the university or something like that but was not sure if McRobbie said anything specific that he did not like sports. I always felt he was more ambivalent towards sports than against them. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  10. It sounds like his family is more pro IU than he is. Hopefully he was just downplaying it some so his choice is not obvious Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  11. I hope so but a lot of times kids also wait because they don’t plan to decide until later in the process. Let’s hope you are right though Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  12. Thanks I tried that and sure enough it all makes sense. For anyone else that uses the iPhone app this is what it is supposed to look like. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  13. Can anyone decipher these when looking at these stats from an iPhone? I always hate skipping over these posts because all the stats get jumbled. I never get on the site on a PC so that might be the fix Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  14. I can’t really remember the caliber of transfers he got at ISU and it seems kind of early to have much of an idea on how he will do at Nebraska. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  15. David Ballou seems to be a very good guy and while he was on the football side he seems to show that not everyone there is trouble. https://iuhoosiers.com/coaches.aspx?rc=2191 Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  16. You are saying you are OK if IU participated in shady recruiting right? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  17. That could be. I was going from memory mainly on the idea that IU was predicated to be the better team before the 2017-18 season. So I looked and found a few others who felt the same. http://btn.com/2017/10/04/dienhart-my-2017-18-big-ten-mens-basketball-predictions/amp/ Then this one showed OSU was not looking strong again this year but did better than expected https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2018-10-11/big-ten-basketball-andy-katzs-predictions-and-power-rankings?amp Preseason predictions are not the end all but the discussion about OSU clearly being in a better spot to win early in Holtmann’s career was not necessarily the case. In fact, it seems IU has been picked to finish higher both years but have not. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  18. I think Hova had a good point on this. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  19. Yeah but as a top 25 kid I think they expected more. Looked it up and he was averaging under 10 pts a game before his injury. Not a bust by any means but I don’t think he was a sure fire stud going into his 2nd Jr year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  20. I am probably misremembering but I thought Diop had been a bit of a disappointment early in his career and that before the season began IU was the better situation. You never really know till the kids start playing but I am fairly confident that OSU exceeded preseason expectations. Looking back it seemed to have been better but not during the summer. Whereas we had several players who had a lot of experience. Not sure who is better but right now Holtman is in a better spot. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  21. I agree. I do think it is fair to suggest that the mid season swoon seems to have stalled that year 1 momentum. I have more confidence that Archie can coach better than Crean and it might be that we have to build a winner before we start to hit with kids like we did in year 1. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  22. Momentum needed. Would be a good pick up and could be a good multi year player Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  23. And a few others https://hoosierstateofmind.com/2019/04/23/indiana-basketball-archie-miller-staying-busy-visits-three-prospects/amp/ Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  24. It is I agree but we still need some difference makers. We have guys on the roster that can be that if they stay healthy and buy in. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  25. I am more worried they stay but wish they had left. We need kids to stay around and get better in the off-season. Something we really haven’t seen much of yet. So if they stay, hopefully they buy in and work. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
