Will finally have a chance to watch this team tonight and am excited. Just followed them on twitter so far.

If we’re allowed to play this type of defense in Madison I feel pretty confident in a win. However, Jackson-Davis and Smith will pick up fouls for having their face close to a Wiscy player when they’re throwing a punch because Big Ten.

Every game is that way. It’s why I can’t do the game thread anymore. People can’t enjoy a game on here anymore. Just a bunch of people that act like we should win every second of every game and if we don’t it’s something to ***** about.

If you can’t remember I think Georgia plays tomorrow. 

Brunk and Davis didn’t get many minutes tonight but I like that we finally have other bigs that can step in and play. I think there will be better matchups for those two as we get into Big Ten play.

Really hoping that Hunter keeps his spirits high and keeps working hard. If he can develop this year to contribute at the end that would be huge.

Florida State led 11-4 early.  Rest of the way we outscored them 76-53.

Damezi has been playing amazing defense tonight 

This weekend will be a big one for top targets. IU has some top guys in town and I could see maybe 1-2verbals. 1 verbal could come from Barner who is not listed for an official this weekend. I will list those who have not given A verbal. 8 guys have given a verbal to IU  will be on campus to help recruit more to this family.

Also, the team went 12-21 last year. I just don’t get how the 10th ranked recruiting class in the Big Ten and one year of experience for the other guys changes that so dramatically.

That’s not even what I’m saying. The fans voiced that they wanted us to win the winnable games and hopefully get a huge upset. I didn’t take any personal shots....but since I’m childish.....And have childish takes....up yours buddy ol pal.  Childish rant because I actually listed things that were asked of this team and once they did it....nobody gave them credit for winning and bashed them and their record....so if that’s childish okay you win big boy. Your twitter fingers have a lot of threats and down talking.....sorry my childish rant hurt you....do you need me to lay out what I’m saying.....take personal shots when you have no counter points to what I’m actually saying. 
 
here you go...it’s laid out for you and as MD said it’s based off of past items....it’s based off the past that coaches have historically choked and gone 4-8,3-9,5-7 with this seasons schedule. Once we hit bowl bound and then once again when this team hit wins 7 and 8 this team was shat on by their own fans and crowd. So if it’s childish for me to back the team....darn.

1. This season win the winnable games that you should. Don’t choke like the past 50 years. 
 
2. then goalposts were moved by fans and discrediting the team saying they haven’t done anything. We won’t show up til they beat a ranked team.....
 
3. Beat a ranked team then we are for real....newsflash....we have beaten ranked teams what 3 times in the past 7 years. 
 
4. I’ll expect number 3 once we win winnable games....but I guess we want a big top 5 win and a huge raise....then go 4-8 and we will be happy.....
5. Next season should be let’s beat some ranked teams or historically better teams. 
 
but hey I’m a child what do I know. Mr. Alford is the almighty on this board throwing personal insults when i said nothing....let the record show. 

A few thoughts here...
Remember that Fred Glass mentioned before the season started that he had some money held back in anticipation of a Tom Allen raise (don't have the link, I think it was an Osterman article). This was before our best season in 26 years. I would say a raise for him is a near certainty. As in like 99.9% certainty
How much should/will he get? Not sure, but I'd be surprised if his salary wasn't doubled. He's proved he can compete in the Big Ten and deserves a competitive Big Ten salary. That's fair. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him around 4 million a year. And that still only puts him in the middle of the Big Ten.
Does he deserve that pay? Well, we've gone 8-4 this year. Can we honestly expect much better? Of course we'll keep pushing but IU football has had a ceiling for a long time. We darn near reached it this year. Historically speaking this was easily one of the ten best seasons in IU history. He's 18-19 at IU. Historically speaking that's pretty good for us. Allen has done something here few coaches have ever done.
I think IU is fortunate that Allen seems like he wants to be here because IU doesn't have much football leverage. We have very little draw. We are not going to attract great coaches. If we ever found a GREAT coach, we'd have him a year before leaving to a bigger school. We're not the type of program that can switch coaches and have immediate success. 
My opinion? We should be appreciative of what we have. Allen isn't a GREAT coach. But he's pretty solid. We've got momentum with him. If you're wanting back to back 8-4 seasons at IU before giving him a raise, I'm afraid we'll lose him because another school will take him from us. Is it a risk that we could slide back to 5-7? You bet. But again, what leverage does IU football have? Considering the market, it's a risk worth taking.

You have to extend. He has what 2 years left on original. It gets harder to recruit kids saying oh I have 2 years left I might be here I might not. You give him a 2-3 year extension and a raise. He’s done what people have asked but yet goalposts keep getting moved farther back and people still are mad and don’t want to keep him or support a raise....but basketball people want to name Archie Miller the guy because he can recruit Indiana. Well news flash people Tom Allen is trying to keep in state talent here....but he’s said it in press before...you don’t want to play here that’s fine we will go to Florida and get kids who want to play and we will beat you....well he beat Purdue. Northwestern. Nebraska whom we’ve lost kids to over the past classes. He’s recruiting at a high level and is building depth....you can have your opinion, but at least back it up by more than well I want to see good seasons....there’s more that goes into building consistency and Tom Allen is building it brick by brick. The roster was/is 72% underclass men who are experienced. You sit Freshmen when you can unless they are just too good....and build depth. He deserves a raise. His assistants deserve money. 

When he gets extended and doesn’t reach the expectations and goals of others we get to listen to a handful ***** and moan.

On a serious note, I’d extend him with a significant raise and more money for assistants. I’d also try to capitalize on this with an upgrade of Mellencamp Pavillion without drop ceilings.

If we can string together a couple of winning seasons we might finally get butts in the seats.

Smith has really turned a corner, it seems. I am very happy to be 100% wrong about his place at IU. 

Pay him whatever he wants. We only beat bad teams, we're still an undisciplined football team, the defense sucks, blah blah blah. Whatever. We won 8 games for the first time since 1993. Won 5 conference games. With all the players we have coming back there's no reason we can't duplicate this success next year.
He has earned an extension. Give it to him and give him however much he needs to keep his staff around. Upgrade our facilities. The momentum is back and then some and we need to take full advantage of it. Michigan State is on the downswing, lets swoop in and take their place in the East.

Links to write-ups for the 3 games.  I haven't seen anything about the extent of Gulbe's injury sustained at the end of the Baylor game.  And no word about Grace Berger's injury that kept her out of the second half of yesterday's game.   Certainly hope neither injury is going to cost either one any additional playing time.  Next game is Wednesday so both have a few days to recover.  I think Coach Moren does a Monday evening radio show and I would expect to learn more at that time.

This would just be entirely too good to be true. 

Recruiting instate guys in football will not make you alot of money! Injuries or not, Brohm is paid top dollars. You would have to agree so far your not seeing a very good return on investment. Allen's connections in the South are paying dividends for what he is paid.

ROI isn’t great but it’s been a year that was mostly out of his control. If we win 4 games next year with a healthy roster, that’ll be time to sound the alarm. 

Why can't Alabama count to 11? 

I think this team is good enough to compete for a Big Ten title, and I've never felt that way before. 

Purdue fans are always talking about the future, and I love it. Opportunities come and go in sports at the drop of a hat. There isn't always a next year. Players get injured, players transfer, players quit, coaches move around, stuff happens. These players they keep chirping about missing now have an established track record of getting hurt...meaning they could easily be hurt again. Or someone else could go down...like I said, stuff happens, and you just have to make the most of it. Things change, and they can change quickly. A year ago, I thought there was no chance we win this game today, but we did. 
 
I'm really, really glad we got #8 today. This could have been a program-changing loss that could have sent us into our bowl game and offseason on a downward spiral. I'm convinced that if we had blown this, nothing we could have done in our bowl game would have made up for it. And if we lost the bowl game too...imagine trying to recruit this offseason on a 4-game losing streak. Everything our staff would point to would be countered with "yeah, but you lost 4 straight, and you can't beat Purdue." Instead, they can show recruits the celebration of winning this game and a player yelling "best coach in the country right here!" while Allen was interviewed afterward.
 
We not only got the bucket back today, we got a whole lot of ammo for the recruiting trail. And we get to play another game! I'm not sure I've ever felt this optimistic about IU football...on the eve of December, no less.
