JaybobHoosier reacted to Class of '66 Old Fart in NCAA MBB Transfer Portal
Friendly reminder that "reaching out" and "receiving interest" are pretty nebulous terms in the recruiting dictionary.

White is really high ceiling player. 50th ranked incoming recruit by 247 last season. All freshman Pac 12 last year. Averaged 9 and 5. 6'7" SF/SG. More of a slasher than shooter but 247 considered him to be a 'keep you honest' three point shooter out of high school.

I'm not sure taking a shot at a kid who was a freshman last year is helpful. He was a pretty good scorer in big boy basketball in high school. He plays hard and will get it figured out if given the chance. The great recruiting class that became the 93 and 94 teams took their lumps as freshmen. Gunn especially has all measureables that we want and is a great kid from a great family.

I am one of the biggest Woodson supporters but IMO the 23 class isn't as good as it should be & I don't think we've done a good job in the portal so far. 24 class is going to be a big moment in his tenure.

I totally get people being bummed we didn’t get Ledlum, even when it seemed like he was a lock. Stuff happens and it seems like he changed his mind from everything that was shared. However, while he would have been a very good get, he wasn’t a great shooter, which we sorely need more of.
Hopefully the staff can get in good with some guards who can light it up. However, I’m also excited to see what Gunn and Banks bring this year. I think Woodson and staff have proven enough to warrant some patience from the fan base. I’m not the biggest Woodson supporter but he has done a very nice job up to this point.

I try to walk on my lunch break when I can but in the summer months I wait until after work when it's cooler and not as hot as it is during the day if there is humidity.

I’m similar. I played hockey forever. Into my 40’s. I ran about 30 miles a week for 15-20 years. Competitively, mini marathons and such. I worked myself into a hip replacement in my early 40’s. My other hip acts up. The repaired one is great but I don’t do the things I was addicted to for years. I swim, walk, bike, etc, but I miss hockey and running quite a bit.

Awesome thread!
I destroyed my body being a complete idiot when I was younger so I pay for it now. I can no longer run but do enjoy walking, swimming, and cycling. I'm typically in the gym weightlifting 5 days a week when my body isn't being a little *****. If you've never worked with a trainer I'd highly recommend it. I thought I could get solid advice online but working with a trainer who understands your body and goals is amazing. I've been able to buildup muscle in areas that I previously tore muscles, ligaments, and tendons.
Best of luck to everyone on their fitness journey!

JaybobHoosier reacted to Stuhoo in 2023-24 IUBB ROSTER
Still three spots open.
We will fill at least two of them.
For those analyzing the potential liabilities and gaps in our current roster? For better or worse, this is not our final roster.

Lord knows we've had enough threads devolve into back and forths on those two, BUT...I've been thinking this since they started. Even if it isn't something intentionally nefarious on their part, I feel like that's going to burn us at some point.

With and without portal additions, under Woodson IUBB has made progress two straight years.
Both years were tournament teams, the second team went farther, did better in conference, and beat Purdue twice; all without our starting point guard. Good programs have:
functional cultures, plenty of talent, a staff that adapts to their roster's strengths, an effective on-court system, and the mental fortitude to persevere through injuries and bad stretches. So far, the Woodson era seems to have been able to check all of those boxes.
Each year begins as a mystery; you never can be sure which player takes a leap forward, and which player that is expected to take a leap forward does not. See; Galloway, Trey and Bates, Tamar. One of them played a ton with the ball in his hands and shot very well from distance; the other was borderline five star player Tamar Bates.
So, while it is expected that Reneau will be a go-to, Sparks may end up improving a ton and be that guy, and Reneau may disappoint .. or not. CJ Gunn and Jakai Newton? Neither may surprise ... but each is talented enough to be very valuable. Other than Anthony Leal, each current player can be very effective; you just don't know. As long as the talent is there, the commonalities that enable team success are in the system and culture more so than as if we're picking a fantasy football roster.
So ... IU will have a roster of 12 or 13 scholarship players that will have enough talent to compete well into the upper half of the B1G next year. It's fun seeing how the pieces are assembled to make that happen.

I'm not sure I trust those two dudes making NIL deals for us either.

Good reminder we can stop tracking Social Media follows as anything important.
Who is getting buckets for this team next year?

Haven’t chimed in yet but really excited for this addition. A wildcard that you definitely take a chance on with the amount of potential aware has.
Welcome to the Hoosier family Mr. Ware!!

Got in the gym today. Chest, triceps, and shoulders day with some good HIIT style cardio. Took over for the wife when I got home so trying to get the young one down.

Someone on Twitter retweeted Adam Howard’s post about all roads lead to Bloomington saying it’s about Knect. No idea if this person knows anything, but wanted to pass it along.

Family and I went and watched the new Super Mario movie at the theatre. Good family movie. My youngest at one point decided to stand in his seat and say, “YES!!” when Mario did something good in the movie lol. Recommend if you have kids.
