In her Olympic debut, the Evansville, Ind. native won Team USA's first Olympic gold medal in the women's 100m breaststroke since 2000 in an Olympic record 1:04.93 and added a second gold medal in the 4x100m medley relay. Swimming the breaststroke leg for Team USA in the 200 medley relay, King split a blistering 28.78, helping the Americans win gold and set a world short-course meter record with a time of 1:43.27. Later in the evening, King had an unbelievable performance in the women's 50 breaststroke, winning her second world title, beating world-record holder Alia Atkinson with a time of 28.92, eclipsing the American record she set in the event on Tuesday night.
