8 top 42 wins which is what the committee will look at. The key difference is 0 bad losses (worst loss rpi 41) compared to 3 bad losses by us (+114). People can debate rpi numbers but until committee chair comes out and says they do not use it these are the numbers they will use. People like me who follow bracketology and team resumes closely what the committee does with whicita state this year will be interesting. They are ken Pom top 11 but have a +50 rpi

I guess I just see it as a down year for great teams so I'll let nova slide even though we know they will be the first one seed to lose this year

In conference, if we could have won either the game @Wiscy or the game @PSU we would be a lock for a 3 seed.  If we could have avoided both losses against terrible teams in Maui we would easily be a 3 seed without an outside shot at a 1 seed depending on how we play in the BTT.  Those losses really killed our resume but seemed to have made this team better.

I just want to mention that when Tom took Marquette to the Final Four in 2003 they were a #3 seed which is what I believe we are currently projected at in the majority of brackets. Marquette's Adjusted Offense ranking was #2 and their Adjusted Defense was #119. Currently IU's Adjusted Offense is #4 and our Adjusted Defense is #67.

Here was Marquettes route to FF

Rd1 - #14 Holy Cross

Rd 2 - #6 Missouri

S16 - #2 Pittsburgh

E8 - #1 Kentucky

FF - #2 Kanas (loss)

Edit: Fun note IU was a #7 seed in 2003 and lost to #2 Pitt which prevented a IU/Marquette matchup in the Sweet 16.

On the flip side of the coin, he didn't make it past the Sweet 16 as a #1 seed with the #3 AdjO and #28 AdjD.

I don't know if Villanova is a legit #1 seed either (which is tough for me anyway given I have a connection to another Philly school) but having watched them a few times they have a good inside game, play great team D, and every player knows how to shot fake.

My prediction, they are a 2 seed.
