Minnesota's Jerry Kill Retires

Recommended Posts

Kill said his doctor said it was in the best interest to step away, or he could have neurological issues down the road

Kill, tearing up: "Last night, when I walked off the practice field, I felt like a part of me died."

Kill: “I still want to coach. I was at practice yesterday after having two seizures. I probably wasn’t supposed to be there."

All the best to Jerry! Stand up guy and helluva coach. Still glad he didn't wind up at IU however.

No doubt. Had he not had health problems, I would have loved him at IU. But not after what happened with Coach Hep.

Jerry Kill was a true coach. He didn't just put all his marbles in recruiting and use the talent excuse. He used what he had and won with it. Whether it was at Saginaw Valley State, Southern Illinois, Northern Illinois or Minnesota, he won and won a lot. He knew what he was doing in an era of coaching when many do not. In my opinion, he was one of the most under-rated coaches in the nation.

Best wishes to him on his health and his retirement. He's had a highly successful career that he and his family can be proud of.

They have a really solid recruiting class so far this year, ranked 30th by 247 Sports and 28th by Rivals. Wonder if they will lose any of those guys? With all the coaching changes happening in the Big Ten (Minnesota, Maryland, Illinois?, Purdue?) this year, it could be an opportunity for IU to get some of those recruits. That is of course if IU doesn't make a coaching change...
