I'm pretty sure Golson was dismissed from school at ND. He left school for a year and could have gone anywhere and then decided to come back to ND. I think it was the same thing with their corner Russell too.

When the ESPN article came out in 13 it stated he was "readmitted" which made me think he was no longer a student at the time. Either way he spent a lot of time with Whitfield in Cali and was rarely if ever on campus.
