What I always say, we'll see come November.

And the personality thing. I think the main difference is certain players wanting to do their own thing and try to get a contract rather than focusing on the task at hand. (Nat. Champ.)
Pitino and Izzo have great systems. Crean needs to harness his inner Izzo-protege. I've seen too much selfish disrespect the past few years at Indiana. Ball hoggin and eye rolling does not bode well within one of the best basketball universities. Who am I kiddn. It is the best.

Sorry about the outwardly optimistic post about the season. We are going to be mediocre, at best. I'll make sure my voice is controlled for now on. People on this thread are ready to pounce on somebody else for being optimistic, pessimistic, or vague. Come on, guys.

Nobody's "ready to pounce."  The reality is, there have been posts like yours on every board for the last 10-12 years.  People post overly optimistic expectations that never come true, and sometimes those same people come back during the season and complain that expectations weren't met.   Sometimes the expectations, or in this case the inference are way overboard, and I think that's hard for long-time fans to read when they see such inferences, know with this coach it's not likely, have a memory that is vivid of under-achievement for all but one team in his 7 years, and just think a post like yours is silly.

You can explain yourself, and maybe your definition is different than most.   But, you have to remember there are people here who were told by fans on chat boards how great Mike Davis would be.  How dominant Bawa Muniru would be.  How dominant Mike White would be.  What a great player Peter Jurkin was.  How Guy-Marc Michele was the missing piece we needed.  On and on.   None of them knew anything; they were just yacking and happy to tel those who disagreed where they could go.  You've not done that, but you're getting defensive, and you don't need to.   However, you do need to understand the reality that you mad e a very large...prediction (?) that most people have a hard time agreeing with given what we know about this coach, the recent history of the program, and the odds of a dominant national championship coming from a team that a year ago couldn't guard anybody.

Also, remember where we are here.  "Historical" at Indiana is very different from "historical" at, say, Purdue.

He might have meant historically in the Tom Crean era. That would mean the Elite 8. It's possible. They would have to finish the season strong though. And that would definitely be historical in the Tom Crean era.
