We need a statement win against Mizzou.

Recommended Posts

I don't know if we can beat Mizzou or not...but one thing I'm not ready to do is give up on this team...why?

because the B1G just isn't that good this year (nor have they been in a while)...

I'm looking at the remainder of the season and I see 6 realistic wins...

Maryland

North Texas

Iowa

Penn State

Rutgers

and

Purdue

will we win all of these? I have no idea, but I would venture to say it will be close in all of them...IU has got to find a way to close out the close games....

The way our D played Saturday crushed any hope I had for a good year. I hope to be proven wrong, but right now I only see North Texas and Purdue as games in which we'll be favored. And I was really optimistic coming into the year.

As for Mizzou, I just hope we keep it competitive.

Like coach Knorr said yesterday, we can't judge the defense off of the second half of the game Sturday. If you think about, the defense did not play too bad in the first half of the game. I'm hopeful they will (theoretically) only get better as the season progresses and they learn the scheme a little better. Of course we will need to avoid major injuries.

We can't judge the D on their second half collapse? Why?

It's a small sample and a work in process. We all knew how horrible the defense was the past few seasons; did we realistically expect them to make that big of progress in one year? Defense is bad but not nearly as bad as they looked on that second half.

Defenses don't get much worse than giving up 45 points to a MAC school. Other MAC schools don't give up that many points. They are atrociously bad.

We need all the wins we can get, statement win or not.  Beating Mizzou would get my IU football buzz back in a strong way though.  Kind of like the Bears beating the 49ers last night after losing to Buffalo.

I THOUGHT WE AGREED NOT TO TALK ABOUT THIS GAME PEOPLE!!!!

On-topic. I would be absolutely floored if we be Mizzou. I was talking to some alums about it last night and we agreed that our best shot is if there is a horrific accident and they only have 11 players who are able to play. And they all have to play out of position.

Though, we agreed that if any of them were 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th string QBs they'd still penetrate our defense.

It is not the 45 points but the 27 first downs and the 33 points, IN THE 2ND HALF!!!!  That can not happen, period.  Let's be honest did anyone on here actually think we had a chance to stop them when they got it back with 2:00 to go?  I was actually hoping we would let them score quick so we would have it last figuring that was out best chance at a win

We should expect our defense to be better than making a 2nd string MAC quarterback look like Joe Montana.
