In a wild affair, PSU pulls out a 14-13 win.

Quite the game for Brie Copeland tonight.  Started on the mound but gave up 4 runs on 4 hits and 2 BB in 1.2 innings.  Hits included a double and a HR.  Reyes replaced her on the mound and she too struggled charged with 10 runs on 12 hits.

While Brie didn't have her pitching mojo, she scored 3 runs one of which came when she stole home.  She also had a 2-RBI inside the park HR in our 6th to tie the game at 11-11.  PSU scored 3 more in its 7th and we could only score 2 in our 7th.  PSU finished with 18 hits 8 of which were for extra bases.  We could only muster 7 hits in the game.

Women rebound to take the first game of today's doubleheader 7-5.  Hess started and gave up 1 run on 2 hits and 1BB.  Copeland took over in the 3rd and gave up 4 runs on 5 hits and 1BB.  Just doesn't seem that Copeland is quite as sharp on the mound as she was last year.  We had 10 hits but left 9 on base.  Minnick, VanBrandt & Cooper each 2 hits; Burko with 2 RBIs.

Second game underway with PSU leading 4-1 with Hoosiers batting in the bottom of the 2nd.  Reyes started but didn't make it through the 2nd inning giving up 3 runs on 3 hits.  Hess took over.

Women take game 2 and win the series 2-1.  17-4 the final score as the women pounded out 13 hits led by 5 women with 2 hits each.  Copeland and Wilkison each with 4 RBIs.   In the game we had 4 HRs;  4 doubles and a triple.  3 IU pitchers limited PSU to 7 hits.

We won't play again until next weekend when we have a 3-game series in Columbus, OH.

Hoosiers (22-8) (2-3) are on the road for a Sat-Mon series with #18 O$U (27-6-1) (4-1).  Saturday and Sunday games televised on B1G+.  Monday's game on BTN.  As a team, the Buckeyes are hitting .362 and average over 9 runs/game.  For comparison, we average .390 and over 8 runs/game.  Don't look for any pitching duels.

Bucknuts win the first game of the day 7-1 as our Hoosiers were limited to just 2 hits.  Copeland started and pitched 4 innings and Reyes finished up the game.  Together they only allowed 5 hits but did walk 6.  Unfortunately, 4 of OSU's 5 hits were HR.  3 were hit off Copeland and 1 off Reyes.  Game #2 scheduled to start at 2:30.

Women salvaged game 3 of the weekend series with a 13-7 win over O$U and Brie Copeland had a night to remember.  She hit 3 HR and is tied at 40 for the IU career HR record.  She also pitched a complete game striking out 13 Bucknuts.  We had a total of 16 hits with Brie and Wilkison each with 4.  Brie and Mitchell each with 3 RBI to lead the team.

Next weekend the women are back in Bloomington to host Maryland (15-18) (3-7) for a Sat. - Mon. 3-game series.
