OT: James Hardy injures 3 Cops in violent arrest

Recommended Posts

Wish things turned out differently for James.  Was really hoping getting drafted would allow for a new beginning.  Doesn't appear that is the case per TMZ.

Former NFL player James Hardy III -- a 2nd round draft pick in 2008 -- attacked multiple police officers Sunday during a violent arrest in L.A. ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... cops were called to an apartment complex in downtown L.A. around 4:30 PM ... and when they arrived to the scene Hardy refused to cooperate.

We're told Hardy -- a wide receiver who played for the Bills and the Ravens -- got aggressive and attacked the officers. We're told he injured at least three cops.

Eventually, officers used a TASER in an effort to subdue Hardy ... but it didn't have the desired effect.

Several officers ultimately were able to take Hardy into custody and he was arrested for felony obstruction of justice. Hardy was later transported to a hospital.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... officers believe Hardy may have been under the influence at the time of the incident.

Hardy is a BIG dude -- according to his booking sheet, the 28-year-old is 6'6" tall and weighs 225 lbs

IIRC he and coach Hoep were close. I think things may have worked out better for Hardy if coach Hoep was still with us. I hope he will be ok after this incident.

Possibly.  But ultimately he's a grown-ass man making his own decisions.  Obviously, not always the right one.  Coulda, woulda, shoulda.  Wasn't.

I remember Hardy during his time with the Ravens. Never heard anything bad about him just that he could never shake off his hamstring problems. He was signed to a futures contract after the 2010 season and actually had such a good off season in minicamps he was a tentative starter coming into training camp. However, he hurt his hamstring on one of the first days of camp and could never get back onto the practice field.
