It has probably been discussed but I'd say because right now Martin is just an unemployed ex-coach so he isn't subjected to any type of NCAA regs, just can't recruit  specifically for IU. When he becomes part of the IU staff he is subjected to regulations.

Welcome aboard. Thanks for your input.

As a follow up to my earlier post which 2drink quoted, I would also like to add to mine regarding our new assistant opening. When a coach says "It's Indiana" as his reason for taking the job, does he mean that only the success of the previous championship teams is the reason? Or does he really buy into the statement knowing that former players and future Indiana high school players truly understand what that statement means? If you look at the direction of recruiting and adding an assistant coach, I think we all can figure out exactly what he meant.
