Visiting Bloomington for the first time, any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

I will be staying in Bloomington from Saturday through Friday of next week for school. I have been to Indiana many times (wife is from Indianapolis) but never been to Bloomington. Just wanted to hear what are the must-do things in Bloomington? Thanks in advance from a new Hoosier!

Serious question. When Knight and Felling were still at IU we'd go to the games on them because of my father in laws connection to Felling, and would always get wings at Buffa Louies. Does anyone go there or were we just delusional? I still love their food.

Thanks! Having not gone to school there just wasn't sure. You come to the Haute, check out the Bally!

If you are a breakfast guy, the village deli is awesome. Paxton potatoes and pancakes.

Are in the executive MBA program?

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Yes, and this is a very common place to see athletes. I was there for bowling green/iu football weekend and saw VO and zellers parents there. Cody must have been around somewhere. It was the same weekend Goodluck was visiting.

I do remember seeing a photo on Twitter I believe.

Bloomington was awesome! Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I got my picture at the gates and in Assembly Hall (see avatar). The bar scene was a lot of fun. I definitely got a great feel for the campus. As far as food is concerned the best meal I had was a cheeseburger with peanut butter and jalapeños from Scotty's. Amazing! I actually visited Bloomington, for the first time, for the Iowa game. My wife got me tickets for Christmas, and she is an Iowa fan, so we thought that would be a good game to see. We drove 45 miles an hour through Illinois, through ice and snow to get there the night before the game. The next day we toured the campus, went to Cook Hall, and just looked around the town before getting the news that the game had been postponed. I did make a second trip, with my brother (also a Hawkeye fan), to catch the game when it was made up. Didn't get to spend as much time as I wanted, in Bloomington, but absolutely loved it. Hoping to make a return trip next season and spending a little more time to get to enjoy the town.

1-0 at Assembly when you visit isn't a bad thing at all. Make sure you pick an important game next year! I blame you for the Nebraska loss :)
