2014 #MCDAAG - April 2

Yeah, Tyra's scored multiple 50 and 60 point games (pretty sure she had one earlier this week or last weekend), so that's not a good way to measure on their part.

Yeah, with her scoring average being 46.5 ppg this year 50 points per game isn't too unusual for her.  She's scored at least 50 in 5 games this year, with her last two games being 52 and 61.  She even had two straight back in December where she scored 60 and 66 respectively.  Hell, she hasn't scored less than 43 in her last 5 games.

The girl they were talking about happened to be like the number 1 girls prospect, but they made it a point to talk about her scoring 54 in a game.  Tyra Buss has done it a few times.

Which, the people saying that would probably come back with a level of competition argument and it would be hard to disagree with them. I don't know anything about the other girl, just a guess.

Tyra's news page just tweeted that she moved to 2nd all time for points scored in girl's high school basketball...IN AMERICA. Wow.

But not a McD's AA.....

Anyway, congrats to Tyra.  That is a hell of an accomplishment

And I forgot to say, she may not have faced the best competition but when you're the second highest scorer in history IN THE COUNTRY you should probably be a McD AA because it means you scored more than a lot of players that were McD AAs against good competition.

Can't wait to see her team up with Larryn Brooks and Taylor Agler.  That's will be one lethal back court that probably shouldn't be legal.

Drove over and watched Buss on Tuesday night. She had 45 at half time! She can ball, but 90% of her points are lay ups and free throws. The referees really made a mockery of the game the way they protected her, and she by no means needs any help.

Yeah, she does get to the basket pretty easily.  A combination of her own natural ability, and she is really good in her own right, and I've seen her go against players that were pretty bad anyway.  I've seen her make good moves though, I saw her drain a step back 3 with a hand in her face once, she has a good stroke and her range would rival even Jordan Hulls.  No, that is not an exaggeration she really does have Jordan Hulls range.

Buss is a very intelligent basketball player. She knows what works against the competition she plays. She adapts very well to the way a game is being called by the officials. I've seen her play maybe 5 or 6 times through the years, and come away more impressed each time. I am sure she is aware that she will not be able to finish around the rim like she does now, at the next level. She will be able to stretch a defense with her range, and I'm sure with the balanced attack the Hoosiers will have next year, she'll enjoy not getting chased around by 2 or 3 girls every game. If she can add about 15 pounds or so to her frame she could be a very dynamic scorer next year.

Saw where Dan Dakich had a huge rant on twitter last night about Tyra Buss not making the McDonald's All-American Game. He posted a link to a couple different newspaper articles about Miss Buss. One from the Indy Star and one from the Chicago Tribune. Looks like Tyra's team just won the Regional Championship, which is the same level of the state tournament as a Sectional in Indiana (Illinois has these two names reversed for whatever reason). She had 46 in the Championship against 25-0 Marshall. She has now scored 1,401 points this year in 30 games. 46.7 PPG. UNBELIEVABLE!

Huh. I must be losing my mind because recently I find myself agreeing with Dakich on more and more things. I was fairly po'ed that Buss was not on the McDonald's AA team. I haven't been this excited about a high school girls player since I watched Jackie Stiles absolutely destroy everyone she faced in western Kansas. I think Buss could have a similar impact in college as Stiles had.

She is the definition of "one man show' so I think her transition to college is going to be more challenging than others may think, but I'm truly excited about this player as well.

I'm most excited about Maura Muensterman she can light it up as well but IMO has been overshadowed by buss. Got to see her play last year against Whitney Jennings who is the probable miss basketball for indiana and headed to Iowa. Maura dropped like 40 points in a win.

Totally agree about Maura. She is the most unselfish superstar I've ever seen. Makes everyone around her better and does everything so well. I worry about how well Tyra will be accepted considering the complete marketing/branding that's been done with her.
