Thoughts on Yogi? In my opinion he is one of the most selfish college basketball players we've had for a while. He had 4 assists tonight, which isn't too bad but he only had 1 after the first 4 or 5 minutes of the game. At the end of the game he took like what? 4 shots? He could've tried to create for teammates and get some good looks, but instead he just started jacking up bad shots.

I think it's hard to pick up assists against a zone when it seems like the only offense are ball reversals up top and quick trigger jump shots

He averages 3.5 assists per game... That is horrible. Our offense does suck though, I'd love to see a pro style offense like Duke.

Yep and also think that yogi has to be more selfish this year if they want to be successful

Exactly. He's pretty much the only consistent scorer.

I think Yogi may be feeling a little pressure to be "the man" this year with so  many new guys on the team.  He took a couple of shots late that made me groan, but I didn't get a selfish vibe from them, I got a, "We've got to have a basket here and it's up to me to do it," vibe from him.

With the inconsistency of our offense this year, I can't say that I blame him.  Right now when we are in situations where we HAVE to have a basket, Yogi is the guy I feel most confident taking the shot.  Does he force things too much at times?  Yes.  Is he selfish?  No.

We have to remember that Yogi was kinda pushed into a leadership role that he may not have been completely ready for. Yogi was the only one for the most part other than Will hitting shots. Once we improve our shooting and offensive skills he will have more assists on the board. I don't believe that Yogi is selfish. I feel he is doing what he thinks and what others think needs to be done. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I agree with this.  I don't think he is playing with a selfish intent, I think he is trying to make plays to win games.

While I agree 3.5 is a horrible assist number, I take it with a grain of salt. This is not a spot up shooting team ( yeah, I know I just pointed out the obvious, duh), this is a dribble drive team. I believe assist totals will be lower because of this.

That being said, if he ain't set, he ain't hitting the 3. This off the bounce shot, especially from 30 ft., ain't working. And if he gets up in the air one more time on a drive with no idea what to do with the ball and then makes some horrible pass again, I'm personally gonna drive to Bloomington and ring is neck.

He's not the only one that has that move mastered. I'm beginning to believe it is one of our offensive sets.

Watching a few other games yesterday I saw it being done by other teams too. It must be a new thing. I don't like it but I do agree it seems to be a set play. Not Yogi freelancing.

I feel like many ppl were complaining that no one is making shots and that this team has no shooters, well yogi and Gordon are about the only ones hitting them so it's kinda hard not to be selfish. I bet you all would be mad if he was creating shots for others and they missed them just as much as he is missing.

He doesn't have to assist on 8-10 shots to be considered unselfish.. When the rest of the team has 12 assists that allows Yogi to shoot. Crean wants Yogi to be the scorer and he has no problem with him shooting. I noticed yesterday that when Stan, Yogi, and Evan were in they had Stan bring the ball up so that frees up Yogi and Evan to get open for shots. I have no problem with the role he has taken on this year and I don't expect it to change. Yogi shouldn't be considered 'selfish' by any means

Yogi only averaged 4 assists last year with Watford, Hulls, Oladipo, and Zeller to feed it to. he was our assist leader then and he is this year too, plus he's more than doubled his ppg. This team has a long way to go and Yogi is the least of our problems.

Well Hulls average almost 4 apg, and Oladipo, Zeller,Watford, and even Will could all create their own shots. IU also averaged way more assists as a team than this years team.
