Ridiculous talent and just about the cutest thing ever. Saw a Lone Justice show and was mesmerized by her stage presence. Electric at 20 years old. Told anyone who would listen that they were gonna be huge. Quote

But the music endures. Demo 1 Quote

There’s an MTV doc from a long time ago out there about Lone Justice and basically the issues were: 1) the record label kept trying to drive them in a popish direction and the band rebelled hard. 2) They were a manufactured band and didn’t get along personally at all. 3) Maria was both really young and a little bit crazy and struggled with everything but the music. It’s a shame, they could have been great. Quote

I’m listening to La Vita Nuova right now and i wasn’t familiar with this record. This is nuts. The lyrics are a little over the top and baroque for my taste but, Jesus, the vocals and just the shear atmospherics of it are incredible. She’d have been 55 or so doing this, unbelievable. Thanks for posting that piece above because this is a rabbit hole I would not have found and this is awesome. Quote
Stuhoo Posted May 15 Posted May 15 La Vita Nuova is outstanding. It’s what a 50-something should evolve toward. Have you heard Ned Collette? I’m on a Ned Collette bender this week. Found him a few months ago—classy, tasteful stuff. Quote

Seem to vaguely recall listening to an album of his called, is it Chestnut, maybe, and it didn’t really do it for me. Found it sort of 1 note-y if I remember it right. So I never went any farther. . Stuhoo Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Old Chestnut-yes. His solo stuff is pretty folky. The band albums are more diverse. Demo 1 Quote
Demo Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Ok, 90% of folks know this from Aerosmith’s really strong version. 9.5% know it from the bada$$ version by The Yardbirds. I love theirs, but I’d always thought that was the original. No, it’s this thing. This wicked little rockabilly raver by this dude. Awesome. And you know a song is legit great when you have 3 wildly different renderings and they all kick a$$. . mike vannice, mamasa, Stuhoo and 1 other 4 Quote

Always loved that band and was lucky to see them come through b-town at Jake’s back in the 80’s. Little Charlie was master of the rockabilly/blue eyed blues guitar. Need to check them out. Fun music. Saw them at the Slippery Noodle in Indy also. Is that place still there? Certainly hope so.. Demo, mamasa and Dave from Dayton 3 Quote

Dave from Dayton Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Just this morning before reading this mustc thread, listened to Little Charlie and the Nightcats on Spotify. Was in two playlists. Jazz Blues Instrumentals and Jazz Blues Since 2000. mamasa, Dhop and Demo 2 1 Quote
Stuhoo Posted yesterday at 12:38 AM Posted yesterday at 12:38 AM This thread has been down this road before. Coming across this video gave me the impression that in the history of rock/punk there may be a grand total of zero recorded live performances better than the MC5 playing Kick Out the Jams in 1970. And maybe no better duo of guitarists ever on the same stage as Wayne Kramer and Fred Sonic Smith. Good lord: Quote
